Student answer (Band 6.0)
Currently, the issue of the influence of the way people dress has become a continuous discourse in contemporary society. While some individuals advocate that the appearance of global fashion trends can limit people's dressing styles, I firmly contend that the trend of the global bandwagon holds merit for cultural exchange and economic growth.
On one hand, critics point out that the popularity of the bandwagon has a negative impact on the aesthetics of humans as well as cultural dissertation. First of all, this trend contributes to the uniformity of people's dressing styles. As for ordinary people, they consider it a judgment criterion for beauty. Whether or not acknowledged aesthetics are appropriate for themselves, people still tend to pursue it, resulting in monotony of aesthetics. Secondly, proponents of this viewpoint also argue that it is not obvious to advertise the national culture is in order to follow the trend, the citizens of different countries wear the same clothes thus, tourists cannot feel the indigenous customs and the sense of experience has decreased.
On the other hand, I firmly assert that this trend is beneficial for the progress of cultural exchange and economy. The popularity of global fashion facilitates exchanges and learning between different cultures of various countries. For instance, the eminent silk prowess of China is appreciated through cultural exchange activities, thereby certain foreign designers combine local cultural elements with silk, with the aim of letting more people know about various customs and embracing the differences of culture. What's more, this phenomenon advances the development of the global economy. These fashionable clothes are publicized around the world, traders manufacture products to attract more and more consumers, thus the increasing of turnover boosts economic development.
In conclusion, while the trend of the global bandwagon has some issues, such as more monotony of aesthetics and the declining of culture dissemination, I personally support this perspective that this trend should be conducted because it has a profound influence on global development.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both the reasons for the strong influence of global fashion and providing a clear opinion on whether this development is positive or negative. The introduction establishes a clear stance, contending that global fashion trends benefit cultural exchange and economic growth. The body paragraphs present relevant arguments, such as cultural dissemination and economic development, while acknowledging the counterargument concerning aesthetic uniformity. However, some ideas are slightly under-developed or expressed with minor awkwardness, such as 'cultural dissertation' and 'the sense of experience has decreased.' Despite these minor lexical issues, the main position is maintained throughout, fitting the Band 7 requirements well.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response demonstrates a clear overall organization with a logical progression of ideas. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the introduction, two opposing viewpoints, and the conclusion. Cohesive devices are employed reasonably well to link ideas, such as 'On one hand,' 'On the other hand,' and 'In conclusion.' However, some referencing and transitional phrases are a bit mechanical or imprecise, for instance, 'the popularity of the bandwagon' and 'this perspective that this trend should be conducted.' These minor faults in cohesion prevent the essay from reaching a higher band, but the logical flow remains clear throughout the text.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The writer attempts to use a range of less common vocabulary, such as 'contemporary society,' 'discourse,' 'monotony of aesthetics,' and 'eminent silk prowess.' While there is an adequate range for the task, some word choices are unnatural or inaccurate, such as 'cultural dissertation' instead of 'cultural dissemination' or 'cultural erosion,' and 'judgment criterion for beauty.' There are also occasional phrasing issues that show limitations in precise collocation control. Nevertheless, the vocabulary used is sufficient to communicate the central arguments without impeding the reader's understanding.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The essay displays a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, including conditional and relative clauses. There are several instances of error-free sentences, demonstrating decent control over basic grammar. However, a number of grammatical errors and awkward structures persist throughout the text, such as 'the appearance of global fashion trends can limit' and 'it is not obvious to advertise the national culture is in order to follow the trend.' Punctuation and word forms are occasionally strained, but these errors rarely impede overall communication, placing the response solidly in the Band 6 category.
