Student answer (Band 5.5)

Mostly individuals dressing sense are changed and influenced by international fashion trends, it is due to social media and the advertismets of different style of clothes. I think it is a negative development because following the international fashion will cost high, and it eliminates our cultural and traditional clothes.

Firstly, global fashion has become very popular in these days therefore almost everyone are trying to follow the trending fashion, it is due to social media, everyone has a access to social media, they watch different drama and movies so they impressed by them. They consider actor or actress as role model for him/her. Another reason is the excessive advertismets of branded and new fasioned clothing, companies advertise them by renowned people like celebreties, which also create the curiosity and willing to wear this type of clothes among in people. Research indicates that in India more than 30% of young population are following international fashion trends.

Secondly, I believe that it is a negative development due to its high cost and it is one root cause of eliminating cultural and traditional clothes which is actually is the identity of person. Cothing has a significant impact on culture, every cast, nation, religion and tribe has their own clothing which actually reflects their origin and culture. Some memories are aslo associate with clothes when you loves someone really. when you gift him/her a clothe definitely you will choose traditional clothe which is actually special at that time. Research shows that in Pakistan some cultural clothes are eliminated such Chatrali, and some punjabi clothes are vanished.

In conclusion, many factors are involved regarding people dressing, its mainly due to social media, I think it should not be happened because global trending clothes are expensive and it is also the cause of eliminating cultural and traditional clothing.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: how global fashion has become a strong influence, and whether this is a positive or negative development. The writer presents a clear position, stating that social media and advertisements are the main drivers, and arguing that the trend is negative due to high costs and the erosion of cultural identity. Ideas are extended with relevant examples, such as the mention of young populations in India and specific traditional clothing items in Pakistan like Chatrali. However, some ideas are slightly repetitive, and the development could be polished further for greater depth. Overall, the task is addressed adequately, fitting the Band 6 descriptor well.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay is organized into four paragraphs, including an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. There is a clear logical progression overall, moving from the causes of global fashion to its negative impacts. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'In conclusion', though some referencing and transitions feel mechanical or repetitive. For example, clauses are frequently strung together with commas rather than appropriate conjunctions or full stops, leading to run-on sentences like 'Mostly individuals dressing sense are changed and influenced by international fashion trends, it is due to social media...'. Paragraphing is present, but internal cohesion requires better sentence boundary control to achieve a higher score.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing the student to convey their ideas about fashion, social media, and culture. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'advertismets' (spelling error for advertisements), 'renowned', 'curiosity', and 'identity'. However, lexical control is inconsistent with numerous spelling mistakes ('dressing sense', 'advertismets', 'fasioned', 'celebreties', 'clothe' instead of clothes) and awkward word choices ('dressing sense are changed', 'high cost'). While communication is not severely impeded, these frequent lexical and spelling inaccuracies restrict the score to Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but grammatical control is weak. There are frequent punctuation and structural errors, most notably comma splices throughout the text, such as '...almost everyone are trying to follow the trending fashion, it is due to social media...' and '...every cast, nation, religion and tribe has their own clothing which actually reflects their origin and culture.' Subject-verb agreement errors are also common, such as 'Mostly individuals dressing sense are changed' and 'everyone has a access'. While the meaning remains mostly clear to the reader, the high frequency of basic and complex structural errors places this firmly at Band 5.0.
