Student answer (Band 5.5)

The citizen's daily outfit is nowdays strongly impacted by global fashion trends. This essay will show that this influence mainly comes from the rise of the internet and the huge popularity of social medias which is the source of an favorable evolution.

Nowadays, it has been normalised to be well dresed not only for special occasion. Internet and social medias provide an infinite different ways of being dressed which can very simply inspired each personnal taste. By scrolling on tik tok or instagram, you can see what Japanese people wear and a few minutes later have a look at the traditional French outfits. Thats typically the magic of social medias and participate widely at the rise of popularity of fashions trend. Regarding the clothing maket, sometimes popular maket chains such as Zara, H&M and more... , make the effort of selling clothes at cheap prices opening a wider range of customers.

To my mind, social media makes possible to follow internationally the different fashion trends and can act as a constant source of inspiration. The real value of it is therefore to possibility to wear the outfit that we really want. For instance someone 30 years ago had not the privilege of wearing what he wanted and maybe needed to wear the traditional outfit of it's own country. If you always have wanted to be dressed like south Korean does, it is now possible even in an European country which is thousands of kilometers away beacause of the diversity that clothe shops have. The popularity of fashion trends made possible to wear every type of outfits and express who you really are.

In conclusion, the facility of having so much outfit ideas on sociale media and the low prices on clothe permit people to finally wear what they always really wanted.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the task, examining both the causes of global fashion influence and providing a clear position that this is a positive development. The writer identifies the internet and social media as main drivers, supporting ideas with examples like TikTok, Instagram, and global clothing chains such as Zara and H&M. However, some ideas lack deeper extension; for instance, the comparison between past fashion limitations and current choices is somewhat basic and could be elaborated further with more robust examples. Overall, the content aligns well with the requirements for Band 6.0, as all parts are addressed with relevant, if slightly under-developed, ideas.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. Progression is visible, moving from the causes of fashion influence to the personal benefits and concluding remarks. However, cohesive devices are sometimes faulty or mechanical. For instance, transitional phrases like 'Thats typically the magic of social medias' are informal, and referencing is occasionally unclear (e.g., 'the real value of it is therefore to possibility to wear...'). Paragraphing is present and logically structured, but within paragraphs, the flow is occasionally disrupted by awkward phrasing and punctuation errors. These issues place the response comfortably at Band 5.5 to 6.0; Band 6 is appropriate given the logical overall progression despite mechanical cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common terms such as 'impacted', 'normalised', 'privilege', and 'diversity'. However, there are numerous spelling and word-choice errors that detract from the quality, including 'nowdays' instead of nowadays, 'social medias' instead of social media (a repeated error), 'dresed' instead of dressed, 'inspired' instead of inspire, and 'maket' instead of market. While these errors do not completely impede communication, their frequency prevents the score from reaching Band 6.5, making Band 5.5 a fair assessment for vocabulary control.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as conditional and relative clauses (e.g., 'If you always have wanted to be dressed like south Korean does, it is now possible...'). However, there are persistent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('social medias which is', 'clothe shops have'), preposition misuse ('beacause of the diversity that clothe shops have'), and incorrect verb forms ('has been normalised to be well dresed'). Punctuation and capitalization are also inconsistent ('tik tok', 'south Korean'). Because errors are frequent and occasionally cause difficulty for the reader, the writing sits at Band 5.0.
