Student answer (Band 5.5)

Many aspects of the way people dress today are influenced by globle fashion trends.

Fashion impacts the life of individuals in the modren age. There are many causes for its influence on people's lives and also there are many negative develpoments occur due to this change. I will discuss both in detail.

One of the bigger reasons for influence of globle fashion is the growing social media trends. When people watch different globle trends online they encourage themselves to change their dressing style according to these trends. Additionally, when residents visit a tourist place where they meet with different visitors they can copy their dressing style and then compare themselves with the them in order to alter their style of dressing according to trends. Furthermore, when individuals realise that fashion trends are important everywhere for respect and for attractiveness then they would give more values to globle fashion trends.

There are many negative changes occur because of this change. First of all, those people who cannot afford fashion may feel an inferiority complex. In this way, in most of the cases those youngsters who belong from a low-income families may cannot compete with innovation due to feeling nervous. Secondly, it can badly affect different local businesses those who sale goods locally because people prefer to buy products or dressing from brands. Thirdly, those who follow new traditional trends in their dressing they might forget their own culture and traditions. For instance, in Pakistan individuals start to copy european dressing sense, so they have started to ignore their country's tradition and culture to adopt.

To conclude with my personal opinion, people are influencing by globle fashion trends from various ways but negative drawbacks due to this change might require more attention. Therefore, I believe that human rights are more crucial than innovation.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address all parts of the prompt, discussing both the causes of global fashion's strong influence and whether this development is positive or negative. Your position is generally clear throughout the response, particularly in your concluding thoughts regarding cultural preservation and human rights. However, while you cover both questions, some of your ideas remain under-developed or somewhat repetitive. For instance, in the second body paragraph, your points about social media, tourism, and personal respect are stated briefly without sufficient extension or concrete examples. To reach a higher level, you would need to fully develop each point with richer explanation and robust supporting details, ensuring that every idea is thoroughly explored rather than generalized.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

Your essay demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt to structure your ideas into logical paragraphs, including an introduction, body paragraphs addressing causes and negative developments, and a conclusion. You make use of various cohesive devices to guide the reader, such as 'First of all', 'Secondly', 'Thirdly', and 'To conclude'. However, the cohesion can feel slightly mechanical or repetitive, and referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the ambiguous pronoun use in 'compare themselves with the them'. Additionally, the progression within your paragraphs lacks seamless flow due to somewhat abrupt transitions between sentences. To improve further, you should integrate cohesive devices more naturally and ensure that referencing and paragraph transitions tie your arguments together with greater subtlety and precision.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items and topic-specific terms such as 'inferiority complex', 'low-income families', and 'local businesses'. However, your writing contains noticeable spelling errors and word-choice inaccuracies, such as 'globle' for global, 'modren' for modern, 'develpoments', and 'sale' instead of sell. Furthermore, some collocations and phrasal patterns are awkward, such as 'people are influencing by' instead of influenced by, and 'belong from'. These lexical slips and spelling mistakes do not heavily impede overall communication, but they restrict your score because precision and control are lacking. To progress, you need to expand your command of less common vocabulary while eliminating basic spelling and word-form errors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting relative clauses and conditional structures such as 'when individuals realise that...'. There are several grammatical errors present, including issues with passive voice ('people are influencing by' instead of 'are influenced by'), article usage, and awkward verb phrases such as 'may cannot compete' and 'start to ignore their country's tradition and culture to adopt'. Despite these frequent errors, your sentence structures are varied enough to convey your overall meaning, and they rarely impede communication completely. To achieve a higher band, you must increase your control over complex sentence structures, ensure correct verb form combinations, and reduce basic grammatical slips such as tense and auxiliary verb mismatches.
