Student answer (Band 5.0)
It's a fact that the fashion industry has significantly grown in the recent years. Every week there is a new fashion trends that comes around and alot of people tends to follow it. With the rise of technology and food industry, the fashion industry has become a huge player in the global market attracting the attention of almost everyone. One things to note is that the global fashion trends comes with its own pros and cons that one must consider.
Personally, I am convinced with the idea of dressing intricately formally or casually based on the requirements of the occasion. Dressing good not only creates a good impression of you amoung other but also makes you presentable which helps in engagement with others. I believe it's a postive development in today's society as everyone has right to wear good clothes and eat healthy.
Nowadays, everyone wants to be seen as a unique individual which is the primary motive of the consumers to follow new fashion trends. Some people likes to follow new fashion trends because they want to stay relevant to the current affairs and trends going on.
The primary reason of the fashion being a strong influence on people's live is social media. The internet and social media where everything is just one tap away makes it very feasible for the consumers to explore the new fashion trends and follow them. Since, there is huge consumer market who picks up on every new fashion trends, other people who might not have a wish to follow trends eventually starts to give it a go. The primary audience for the fashion trends are women as they are easily influnced by the fashion trends compared to men.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the main parts of the task by discussing why fashion is influential and whether this is positive or negative, but the treatment remains partial and limited. The position is stated rather simply in the second paragraph ('I believe it's a postive development'), but it lacks consistent development throughout the essay. Ideas such as the desire to be unique or the impact of social media are introduced in separate paragraphs like 'Nowadays, everyone wants to be seen as a unique individual...' but they remain somewhat superficial and under-developed, without sufficient supporting examples or extended explanation. Furthermore, there is an irrelevant inclusion regarding the 'food industry' in the introduction, which shows a slight drift from the prompt's focus. To move higher, the writer needs to ensure every main idea is fully extended with robust explanation and relevant examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is some basic organization with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a concluding sentiment integrated into the final body section, but the essay lacks a clear overall progression. Paragraphing is somewhat arbitrary and disjointed; for instance, the third paragraph consists of only two sentences discussing uniqueness and current affairs, breaking the flow of the argument. Cohesive devices are frequently inaccurate, repetitive, or mechanically used, such as the repeated use of 'The primary reason' and 'The primary audience' across adjacent sentences in the final paragraph. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, making the logical transitions between sentences jumpy. To achieve a higher band, the writer must ensure logical sequencing from sentence to sentence, manage paragraphing more purposefully, and employ a wider, more natural variety of cohesive links.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate to convey basic ideas about the fashion industry, social media, and trends. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary items, such as 'intricately', 'presentable', and 'feasible', but these are often marked by noticeable errors in word choice, collocation, or form, for example saying 'dressing intricately formally' or claiming the 'food industry' influences fashion. There are also several spelling and word-form errors present, such as 'alot', 'tends', 'things', and 'influnced', alongside awkward phrasing like 'gives it a go'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect a restricted lexical control. To improve, the writer should focus on expanding word choice accuracy and mastering common collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer demonstrates a limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentences alongside a few clumsy attempts at complex forms. Frequent errors in grammar are scattered throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues like 'a new fashion trends that comes' and 'alot of people tends', as well as article and preposition errors such as 'in the recent years', 'One things', and 'everyone has right'. Punctuation and sentence boundaries also show occasional strain. These frequent errors cause some difficulty for the reader and prevent the text from achieving a smooth reading experience. To reach the next level, the writer needs to produce a greater variety of error-free complex sentences and exercise tighter control over basic grammatical agreements and article usage.
