Student answer (Band 5.5)
The importance of people changing their life as per trends in many aspects of dressing is a controversial topic, where some people think it is beneficial to stay updated, the others may disagree with this notion. Although, the changing fashion trends have influenced people's life widely, it is still somehow not widely accepted. This essay highlights the opinion about how it is impacting a person's life negatively.
The global fashion trends are widely acceptable in almost every country of the world. The major reason behind is the social media advertisements. Nowadays, almost everyone have access to the social platforms. People are often impressed by those people who they like and follow. For example, the majority of the womens want to look like that one influencer or actress they adore. Fashion brands hire these as a model to increase their sales and hence changing the way people dress.
In one way, it is a positive development for the fashion business industry, as with changing trends people will buy more stuff, as a result increases their sale. On the other hand, for buyers it van be hard on their financial conditions. Many people have often been seen spending most of their money on buying new clothes, shoes or other items which they do not even need but they have to buy as they are trending.
Moreover, changing fashion trends also affect the cultural values of a community. For instance, in many regions of Pakistan, people used to get dressed as per their culture and can be identified easily by that. However, this aspect has also changed now, as everyone want to dress up as per current fashion models.
In conclusion, without any doubt changing global fashion trends are beneficial for business community but they play a major role in the loss of cultural values and negatively impacting buyers financial conditions.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task, discussing both the reasons for the strong influence of global fashion and whether it is a positive or negative development, which keeps it within a competent band. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. For instance, the paragraph discussing the positive side for businesses is quite brief, noting simply that changing trends make people buy more and increase sales, without fully extending this point. Similarly, the conclusion introduces a slightly contradictory premise about trends being beneficial for the business community after the body paragraphs primarily argued a negative stance, pointing to a lack of fully realised clarity in the writer's overall position.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement and attempts to organise ideas logically into distinct paragraphs, starting with an introduction, moving to causes, exploring both positive and negative impacts, discussing cultural effects, and finishing with a conclusion. Nevertheless, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or faulty. Transitions like 'In one way' and 'On the other hand' are used, but referencing can be slightly unclear, such as the pronoun 'they' referring ambiguously to businesses or buyers in places. Paragraphing is present, but the logical progression within paragraphs could be smoother to truly guide the reader effortlessly through the argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The writer demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task and attempts less common lexical items such as 'controversial topic', 'advertisements', and 'financial conditions'. However, there are noticeable inaccuracies in word choice, collocation, and form. Examples include 'the others may disagree' instead of 'others', 'womens' instead of 'women', and 'van be hard' instead of 'can be hard'. Furthermore, phrases like 'business industry' are slightly repetitive or unnatural. These vocabulary and spelling errors do not impede overall communication, but they prevent the writing from achieving a higher level of lexical precision and flexibility.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response employs a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating attempts at subordination and relative clauses, such as 'which they do not even need but they have to buy as they are trending.' There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, including subject-verb agreement issues like 'everyone have access' instead of 'everyone has', and article errors such as 'as a model' instead of 'as models'. Prepositions and clause structures also show occasional awkwardness, like 'impacts a person's life negatively'. However, these errors are relatively infrequent and rarely impede communication, allowing the reader to grasp the core arguments without difficulty.
