Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum length requirement of 250 words, containing only 122 words in total. Consequently, the task is addressed only minimally. While the writer attempts to answer both parts of the prompt—discussing why global fashion is influential through social media and celebrities, and offering a brief view on its effects—the ideas remain extremely limited and under-developed. For instance, the mention of local availability and job creation lacks the necessary extension and support expected for a fully articulated argument. The position is stated at the beginning, but the brief elaboration prevents any thorough exploration of the issues raised in the prompt, placing this criterion at the lowest operational level for a completed response.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

Information and ideas are presented with a basic structure, but they are not arranged coherently enough to establish a clear overall progression. The response is divided into short paragraphs, yet the sequencing of thoughts feels somewhat disjointed. Basic cohesive devices such as 'firstly' and 'secondly' are attempted to signal transitions, but their usage is mechanical and repetitive. Referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in abrupt shifts between celebrity influence, brand availability, and economic impacts without smooth transitional ties. Paragraphing is attempted, but the units of text are too brief and underdeveloped to guide the reader through a well-organized argument, reflecting the characteristics of a developing organizational framework.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is basic, repetitive, and narrow in scope, relying on simple terms like 'good quality clothes', 'expensive clothes', and 'good activity'. There are numerous spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text, such as 'modren', 'fatshion', 'nagative', 'industery', and 'creatrices', which stem from inaccurate spelling and incorrect word forms. These lexical slips and restricted word choices frequently strain the reader's understanding. While the writer attempts to introduce topic-specific terms like 'celebrties' and 'brand', the lack of precision and frequent inaccuracies prevent the vocabulary from serving communicative needs effectively, restricting the lexical score to this level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The grammatical range is very limited, relying heavily on simple sentence structures with frequent mechanical errors. There are persistent mistakes in verb forms, tenses, articles, and prepositions, such as 'is has many positive effects', 'look same like same to them', and 'some shopkeeper they have no another job'. Punctuation and sentence boundaries are also handled poorly, resulting in fragments and run-on ideas that distort meaning in places. Complex sentence forms are virtually absent, and the high frequency of basic grammatical errors causes continuous difficulty for the reader, placing the grammatical performance firmly within the parameters of this band.
