Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
The response responds to the task only minimally and fails to meet the word count requirement, containing only one hundred and thirty-two words compared to the minimum of two hundred and fifty. While the student attempts to address both parts of the prompt by mentioning social media influence and expressing an opinion on whether the trend is positive, the ideas are extremely limited and under-developed. For instance, the point about feeling well when dressing well is stated briefly without any relevant supporting examples or adequate elaboration, which prevents the response from reaching a higher level.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some basic organization present with the use of paragraph breaks, but the text lacks an overall logical progression. Cohesive devices are minimal, inadequate, and repetitive, relying on basic transitions like 'On the other side' and pronouns with unclear referencing, such as 'they' in the final sentence referring back vaguely to people or clothes. The progression of ideas stumbles because sentences are joined loosely without sufficient linguistic bridges, keeping the structure at a basic level.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for expressing simple ideas about fashion and social media. There are noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word form, such as 'markeing' instead of marketing, 'fallow' instead of follow, 'modren' instead of modern, and 'gracefull' with an extra letter. Attempts at less common phrases like 'culture world wide' and 'overall impact on personality' lack precision, and these lexical errors occasionally cause some difficulty for the reader.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer employs a very limited range of sentence structures, relying mostly on simple or faulty complex sentences. There are frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues in 'people are getting influenced' and missing articles or pluralization errors in 'Female are really enjoying online shoping'. Punctuation is also problematic, including run-on ideas and a lack of capitalization at the beginning of sentences like 'it became easier'. These frequent errors require the reader to decode the meaning.
