Student answer (Band 6.0)

In contemperory era, it is often witnessed that fashion is widely influenced by the global fashion trends. I agree with this fact because nowadays there is a huge varity of fashion and people do follow every new trends in the influence of the world.

Global fashion has a very strong influence on lives of people as trends impact people's mind and attracts their mind towards them. For instance, the platforms like MET GALA is a fashion event and people shows their creativity of styles and clothing there and people get highly influenced by such styles and clothing and apparently started following a certain trend just because it is in trend. Apart from that, social media contributed to the fashion trends on a great extent because nowadays people get influencd by everything that comes on social media. One reason for it is that the clothing or other things are presented on social media in such a way that people get attracted to it and make an impulsive buy just for the sake of trend.

In my opinion this is neither a completely negative or positive development as it has both pros and cons. Although following trends is a good thing as it eventually helps us to be more presentable and upto date and we can present ourself in a better way, it also sometimes leads to implusive buy which eventually impacts or buget as we might not need a certain thing but bought it just because it is in fashion. Thus, I would say we should follow fashion and trends in such a way that it satisfies our mind without making any significant harm to our budget and overall vibe of stylling.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both why global fashion has become influential and whether this development is positive or negative. Your position is clear throughout the essay. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others. For instance, while you mention platforms like the MET GALA and social media as drivers of fashion influence, your explanation remains somewhat general and could have been extended with deeper analysis or more specific impacts on daily life. Similarly, your evaluation of the pros and cons balances both sides, but the development of these points remains somewhat repetitive, particularly regarding impulsive buying. To move up to a higher band, you need to ensure that all main ideas are equally well-extended and supported with robust, detailed explanations.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

Your essay demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt to structure your ideas into logical paragraphs, separating the introduction, the causes of fashion influence, the balanced evaluation, and the conclusion. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or faulty. You rely heavily on repetitive cohesive devices and transitions like 'Apart from that' and 'Thus', and some referencing lacks clarity, such as the ambiguous pronoun use in 'impacts or buget as we might not need a certain thing'. Paragraphing is used, but the internal logical progression within paragraphs could be smoother and more natural. To achieve a higher score, you should employ a wider and more flexible range of cohesive devices without overusing or misusing them, ensuring seamless transitions between ideas.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

Your vocabulary range is adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your main points successfully. You make commendable attempts to use less common items and topic-specific vocabulary such as 'presenter', 'creativity', and 'impulsive buy'. However, there are notable spelling errors, such as 'contemperory' instead of contemporary, 'varity' instead of variety, 'influencd' instead of influenced, 'implusive' instead of impulsive, and 'buget' instead of budget. Additionally, there are minor word-choice and collocation slips, such as 'on a great extent' instead of to a great extent. These errors do not impede communication, but they prevent you from reaching a higher band. To improve, you need to broaden your lexical repertoire, use less common vocabulary with precision, and refine your spelling and proofreading habits.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence forms throughout your essay, attempting various structures to convey your arguments. However, there are several errors in grammar, punctuation, and word forms that persist. Examples include article omissions and misusages, such as 'in contemperory era' missing the article 'the', subject-verb agreement issues like 'people shows their creativity' instead of show, and preposition errors such as 'in the influence of the world' instead of under the influence. Furthermore, punctuation is occasionally weak, and some complex sentences become tangled. These errors do not heavily impede communication, but they occur frequently enough to keep your grammar score at this level. To reach higher bands, you should focus on increasing your control over complex sentence structures and eliminating basic agreement and article slips.
