Student answer (Band 5.5)
in today worlds, there is a culture to follow fashion trends globally and it is mainy followed by youths and have a strong influenced.
i think this is a negative impact because it have a strong influend of fashion trends in youths and many youths buy clothes by their own money but some youths are adults who are not doing work and they spend family money to buy it and this will be harm their income money so i think it is mainly impact om middle class family although the family memebrs buy them because of their happiness but doing hardwork, struggle and to buy like 20 percent of month income to buy some clothes so it is a harmful things and i think it can be harm to their daily living costs because they spend a much money to some clothes.
Following global fashion trends can have several negative impacts on individuals and society. Firstly, it can create financial pressure, as people may feel the need to purchase new clothes regularly to keep up with changing styles. This can lead to unnecessary spending and even debt. Secondly, the fashion industry can cause serious environmental problems. The production of clothes requires large amounts of water and energy, while discarded garments increase waste and pollution. Furthermore, global fashion trends may weaken local cultural identity because young people can become more interested in international styles than traditional clothing. Therefore, although fashion trends can be attractive, following them excessively can cause financial, environmental and cultural problems.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses the task only partially, reflecting a lower intermediate level of development. While the writer attempts to answer both parts of the prompt regarding the influence of global fashion and whether it is positive or negative, the position is not always clear and ideas are limited. For instance, the first two paragraphs contain repetitive, circular arguments about young people spending family money, which are under-developed and lack clear extension. Although the final paragraph introduces relevant points such as environmental problems and cultural identity, the overall treatment of the prompt remains basic and fails to fully explore the complexities of global fashion trends.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The text demonstrates some overall organisation, but struggles with clear progression in the earlier sections. The response begins with a fragmented introduction and a second paragraph that lacks logical sequencing, relying on repetitive phrases without clear cohesive ties. However, the final paragraph shows an improvement in structure by successfully employing basic cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'Furthermore' to sequence distinct ideas. Paragraphing is introduced, but the transition between the disjointed opening thoughts and the more structured final paragraph lacks a smooth logical flow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate to convey basic meaning. The writer attempts some less common terms and topic-specific vocabulary, such as 'environmental problems' and 'cultural identity', but these are accompanied by noticeable errors in word choice and form, including 'influend' instead of 'influence' and 'income money'. Repetitive phrasing is evident throughout the first half of the response, such as the repeated use of 'youths' and 'buy clothes'. While communication is generally maintained despite these lexical shortcomings, the range remains restricted and precise word choice is frequently lacking.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The writing exhibits a limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on simple forms and faulty attempts at complex sentences. There are frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('fashion trends can have... but it have'), incorrect verb forms ('this will be harm'), and poor punctuation, particularly in the run-on sentences of the second paragraph. Clauses are often awkwardly linked, which can cause difficulty for the reader. Although the final paragraph displays better control, the overall frequency of structural and mechanical errors indicates a need for greater accuracy across a wider variety of grammatical forms.
