Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the causes of global fashion influence and offering a personal opinion on whether it is positive or negative. However, the development of ideas remains limited and under-developed. For instance, the discussion regarding professional settings in cities like Kathmandu and Pokhara touches upon a relevant point, but it lacks sufficient elaboration and relies on broad generalizations rather than fully explored examples. The position is stated in the introduction, but the conclusion trails off abruptly mid-sentence, preventing a fully realized synthesis of the arguments. To progress, the writer needs to ensure that every main idea is extended with clear, well-supported explanations and specific examples that directly answer all parts of the task without cutting off prematurely.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay displays some basic organization, utilizing clear paragraph breaks to separate the introduction, the two body paragraphs, and the conclusion. However, there is a lack of clear overall progression, and the logical flow between sentences is occasionally disrupted by mechanical or repetitive cohesive devices. For example, the transition phrases such as 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand' are employed, but referencing within the text is sometimes unclear, such as the ambiguous pronoun use in 'by seeking them they have copy their dressing fashion.' Furthermore, the abrupt ending of the essay due to the incomplete sentence at the end leaves the organizational structure unresolved. To achieve higher bands, the writer must ensure smooth transitions throughout, maintain precise referencing, and complete all paragraphs logically.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary items, such as 'microfinance companies,' 'promotional videos,' and 'cultural identity,' but these are accompanied by noticeable errors in word choice, form, and collocation, including phrases like 'dressing sense' instead of 'sense of dress' and 'adapt global fashion' instead of 'adopt global fashion.' Additionally, there are recurrent lexical inaccuracies such as 'infornt public' and 'numerious ideas.' While communication of the general argument is maintained, these frequent lexical slips restrict the score. To improve lexical resource, the writer should focus on expanding their range of functional synonyms, mastering correct word forms, and paying closer attention to standard collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response demonstrates a limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on basic sentence forms alongside faulty attempts at complex sentences. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('fashion trends influenced', 'an individuals believed'), incorrect article usage ('in private company', 'a advantage'), and prepositional errors. For example, 'It is happened due to social media' contains an incorrect passive construction, and 'direct effect on culture' lacks a verb. These errors require some effort from the reader to decode the intended meaning. To move upward, the writer must work on eliminating basic structural errors, improving control over tense consistency and agreement, and producing error-free complex sentences.
