Student answer (Band 6.0)
In recent years, fashion industry has revolutionised internationally with an unexplained rise in textile industries. Recent studies reported a huge influence of global fashion on public in several ways. My view always remained neutral regarding the pros and cons of this development.
Social media plays a non negotiable role in influencing people's lives through emerging global fashion trends. Watching individuals' the youth admires, they themselves want to look and wear like their favourite personalities. It increases the marketing of the textile industry which give rise to economic growth by investing in textile and fashion. Universities also start offering multiple subjects at bachelor levels related to fashion. i.e; Bachelors in fashion and textile has now become common department in the world's top universities as a part of curriculum. Therefore, with the increase in fashion trends, several positive impacts are evident.
On the other hand, these fashion trends lead to some side effects which cannot be ignored. In some areas, the fashion trends have become a race rather than something people should just take as a simple part of life. People who cannot afford to go world's emerging trends are being judged. As a result of bullying and racism, they develop inferiority complex which is a leading cause of depression and suicide specially among youth. However, some people manage to follow the trends but they fail to afford basic necessities which increases poverty and mental pressure.i.e; Recent research in Asia reported that about half of the total deaths from suicide take place due to racism and bullying.
At th end, as a society, it is very important to contribute to the economy through supporting emerging fashion trends but all steps should be taken while knowing our limits.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both the causes of global fashion's influence and providing a view on whether it is a positive or negative development. However, the treatment of these ideas is uneven. While the positive aspects and the negative consequences, such as bullying and mental health pressures, are introduced, some of these ideas remain under-developed or lack specific explanation. For instance, the link between fashion trends and suicide rates is stated abruptly without sufficient elaboration or convincing support. Nevertheless, a clear position is maintained throughout the essay, demonstrating a partial fulfilment of the task requirements.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a recognisable introduction, body paragraphs addressing distinct aspects of the prompt, and a brief conclusion. Paragraphing is utilised to separate the positive and negative points. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or faulty. Transitions between sentences and ideas can feel abrupt, and referencing is not always clear, as seen with phrases like 'i.e;' used awkwardly to introduce examples. While logical progression is attempted, the flow between thoughts is occasionally disjointed, reflecting a standard organisational structure typical of this level.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The writer demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common lexical items such as 'revolutionised', 'inferiority complex', and 'necessities'. However, there are noticeable inaccuracies in word choice, collocation, and word formation, such as 'fashion industry has revolutionised internationally' and 'go world's emerging trends'. Spelling and punctuation slips also occur, such as lowercase letters at the beginning of clauses and punctuation errors around examples. These lexical slips do not severely impede communication, but they restrict the precision and flexibility expected at higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating an attempt to vary sentence structures with clauses introduced by relative pronouns and subordinators. However, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation, including missing articles ('fashion industry', 'public'), incorrect prepositions ('at bachelor levels', 'from suicide'), and subject-verb agreement issues ('textile industry which give rise'). While these errors do not completely prevent understanding, they persist throughout the text and require some effort from the reader to decode the intended meaning.
