Student answer (Band 6.5)
In recent decades, globle fashion trends have significantly shaped hpw people dress in almost every part of the world. This essay will discuss the reasons behind this phenomenon and argue that it is largely a pasitive development, despite some drawbacks.
There are saveral reasons why global fashion has become so influential. Firstly, the rise of social media and the internet has made international trends instantly accesible. Platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and Youtube allow celebrities, influencers, and fashion brands to showcase their styles to million of followers worldwide. For example, a clothing style worn by a celebrity in New York can be copied in pakistan within days. Secondly, globalization and fast fashion brands such as Zara, H&M, and Nike have made trendy clothes affordable and widely available. Their stores are present in major cities, and online shopping enables delivery anywhere. Finally, people espacially the younger generation, want to feel part of a global culture and express their modern identity through fashion.
From my perspective, this development is more positive then negative. On the positive side, globle fashion promotes cultural exchange and creativity. People can experiment with different style and develop a more open-minded view of other cultures. It also creates economic oppertunities and employment in the fashion industry. However, there are some negative aspects. The pressure to follow trends can lead to overspeeding and loss of traditional clothing. In countries like pakistan, young people often prefer Western clothes over Shalwar Kameez.
In conclusion, globle fashion dominates people's lives because of social media, globalization, and the desire to be modern. Although it has some disadvantages, its benefits in terms of self-expression and cultural connection make it a positive development overall.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing the reasons behind the influence of global fashion and presenting a clear position that it is largely a positive development. Ideas are generally relevant, but some are slightly under-developed or rely on brief examples, such as the mention of young people wanting to feel part of a global culture. The main points regarding social media, globalization, and economic opportunities are clearly outlined throughout the essay, showing a good understanding of the prompt. To move to a higher level, the writer needs to fully extend and support all ideas with deeper explanations and more comprehensive examples rather than relying on brief assertions.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear logical progression from the introduction through the body paragraphs to the conclusion. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, with each body paragraph focusing on a distinct theme such as the causes of fashion influence or the positive and negative aspects. Cohesive devices are used adequately, using words like 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'Finally' to structure the arguments. However, cohesion can sometimes feel a bit mechanical. To achieve a higher score, the writer should employ a more flexible and varied range of referencing and cohesive links that integrate ideas more smoothly without relying on formulaic transition markers.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'phenomenon', 'cultural exchange', and 'open-minded'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, including 'globle', 'hpw', 'pasitive', 'saveral', 'accesible', 'espacially', and 'oppertunities'. While these errors do not impede overall communication, they restrict the lexical score. To reach a higher band, the writer must expand their control of less common lexical items, ensure greater accuracy in word formation and spelling, and demonstrate more precise collocations when discussing contemporary trends.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5
The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating structures such as relative clauses and participial phrases, as seen in 'a clothing style worn by a celebrity in New York can be copied in pakistan within days.' There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, such as missing capitalization for proper nouns ('pakistan') and occasional minor structural slips, but these errors rarely impede communication and the majority of simple structures remain accurate. To attain a higher band, the writer needs to produce a greater frequency of error-free complex sentences and maintain tighter control over punctuation and capitalization across the entire text.
