Student answer (Band 6.0)

In the contemporary era, fashion industries become growing repidly. Some people follow global fashion trends, they can learn today's fashion vogues. This influence has become particularly strong because of social media and international brands; however, this development has some drawbacks. I strongly believe that it is largely positive development because it gives people numerous choices and cultural experiences.

One major reason for the growing global fashion trends is the rapid expansion of social media. Plateforms such as Instagram, Tik Tock and You tube allow people to see new style withing fraction of seconds and easily copy different styles. Nowadays, many people enter into fashion indutries because they have creativity and powerful imagination about fashions. It gives monetary values and social status in the society. In addition, international fashion brands use digital advertising to reach consumers in almost every country. As a result, a particular style can become popular worldwide in a very short period. For example, young people in India can now follow international fashion trends and purchase similar clothing through online shopping platforms.

Global fashion has several positive effects. Firstly, it provides consumers with a greater variety of clothes. Today's people can wear western clothes in various occasions like party and social gethering. People can experience different styles rather than only wear traditional clothes. Secondly, it promotes distinctive cultures by organising fashion events. For instance, Red Gala Carpet in New York. Every year it organise and invite celebrities from over the world and exchange their cultures. In addition, a famous designer Manish Malhotra, he combined traditional culture with modern arts.

To recapitulate, global fashion has become a powerful influence mainly because of social media, international brands and online shopping.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task, discussing both why global fashion has become influential and giving an opinion on whether this is positive or negative. The position is clear throughout, particularly in the introduction and body paragraphs. However, some parts are more fully developed than others. While the reasons involving social media and international brands are explained reasonably well with examples like online shopping platforms, the discussion of the positive aspects relies on brief and somewhat under-developed points, such as mentioning the 'Red Gala Carpet' and the designer Manish Malhotra without fully elaborating on how these specifically demonstrate a positive development for everyday people. To reach a higher level, all ideas would need to be equally extended and supported with clearer reasoning and more precise examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear logical progression from the causes of fashion influence to its positive effects. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different ideas, such as the role of social media in the second paragraph and the benefits in the third. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or faulty. For instance, the transition 'Secondly, it promotes distinctive cultures' leads into examples that are disjointed, and referencing is not always clear, as seen in the sentence fragments used for examples like 'For instance, Red Gala Carpet in New York.' Furthermore, some introductory links like 'To recapitulate' are somewhat abrupt. Improving the flexibility and natural flow of cohesive devices would elevate this aspect of the writing.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, demonstrating an attempt to incorporate less common items such as 'contemporary era,' 'monetary values,' and 'distinctive cultures.' However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors that reflect a limited and developing lexical range. Examples of spelling and formation issues include 'repidly' for rapidly, 'Plateforms' for platforms, 'Tik Tock' for TikTok, 'You tube' for YouTube, 'withing' for within, and 'gethering' for gathering. Additionally, phrasing such as 'fashion industries become growing repidly' and 'Today's people can wear western clothes in various occasions' reveals awkward collocations. While these errors do not severely impede communication, they prevent the vocabulary score from rising into higher bands.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The writer demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing structures such as conditional and relative clauses like 'People can experience different styles rather than only wear traditional clothes.' There are, however, several errors in grammar and punctuation throughout the text. Issues include subject-verb agreement and tense errors, such as 'fashion industries become growing repidly' and 'Every year it organise and invite celebrities.' There are also minor prepositional and article inconsistencies, such as 'in society' or omitting necessary articles before singular countable nouns. Fortunately, these errors rarely impede overall communication, and the sentence structures remain generally understandable. A greater variety of error-free complex structures is needed to progress further.
