Student answer (Band 6.5)

The dressing sense of several people nowadays is shaped according to the international fashion trends. This has happened because of increased social media consumption, celebrity endorsements as well as globalization. I firmly believe that this is a positive development since it has helped people grow outside their culture and be more confident about themselves.

When people use internet platforms, they come across various cool outfits that eventually inspire them to have one. The standards of the world has risen so much that individuals want to have a closet full of varieties since they want to seem more relevant and acceptable to others. Apart from this, international celebrities tend to have a huge influence on common people as several common people have started copying their styles and dresses. Take, for instance, if a famous celebrity named Zendaya wore a backless gown to the Met Gala. Her fans from all across the globe will try to purchase a similar one from the exact same shop since they love her taste in fashion. Likewise, globalization has risen to its peak in the last few years. The constant interaction between people with different ethnicities and countries has certainly impacted the way the others dress up.

One of the most interesting thing about this trend is, individuals have learned to grow out of their shells, mainly socio-cultural one. The people who earlier wished to wear similar outfits have now started trying new ones to feel more vibrant and adaptable. Additionally, the implementation of global fashion trends not only makes one confident but also feel better about their skin. For example, if an Indian women has worn saree all her life and has now tried to wear an A - line frock, she will feel more beautiful about herself thinking she has explored a new side of herself. Lastly, more friends can be made beyond the geographic area if we make other people realise that we all share some mutual personality traits and tastes, even if it is just for clothing.

In conclusion, many aspects of how people are dressing themselves these days are mainly decided by the world's fashion trends and i think the reasons for this is social platforms, celebrity's followers, massive tourism and trade. It is, for sure, a good development since individuals have become more adaptable, diverse and friendly with each other.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both parts of the question: you identify social media, celebrity influence and globalisation as causes, and maintain a clear positive view. The Zendaya example supports the celebrity point, while the clothing example illustrates how exposure to new styles may encourage confidence. This meets the task well, and some ideas are extended with relevant explanation. However, the discussion of how globalisation affects clothing is brief, and claims such as fashion helping people make friends or feel more confident are asserted more than demonstrated. To strengthen the response, explain the mechanisms behind these effects and develop each example more precisely, while acknowledging that the benefits may not apply equally to everyone. That fuller, more consistently supported development would make the argument more convincing.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: the introduction presents causes and a position, the body paragraphs develop these points, and the conclusion restates the view. Sequencing is generally easy to follow, and signposts such as “Apart from this,” “Additionally,” and “In conclusion” help guide the reader. However, some linking feels mechanical, particularly the repeated additive transitions, and the second body paragraph moves from confidence to making friends without a clear bridge. References such as “the others” are also not fully clear. Improve progression by grouping related effects together, using more precise referencing, and making the relationship between each example and the main claim explicit. This would make cohesion more flexible and less dependent on formulaic connectors.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range for the topic, including phrases such as “celebrity endorsements,” “globalization,” “socio-cultural,” and “geographic area.” These choices allow you to discuss both causes and effects, and the meaning is generally clear. However, several expressions are imprecise or unnatural, such as “dressing sense,” “have one,” “grow out of their shells,” and “feel more beautiful about herself.” Some wording is also repetitive, especially “common people” and “fashion trends.” Aim for more precise collocations and a more formal register, while checking that idioms fit the intended meaning. A wider range of accurate topic-specific language would make the argument sound more fluent and controlled.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You attempt a mix of simple and complex structures, including conditional examples and clauses introduced by “since,” “as,” and “if.” Most sentences remain understandable, and the longer sentences help explain cause and effect. Some grammatical errors persist, however. For example, “The standards of the world has risen” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “One of the most interesting thing” needs a plural noun. In “an Indian women has worn,” the article and noun form do not agree, and the final sentence shifts to lowercase “i” and has an awkward clause structure. Review agreement, articles, plurals and sentence punctuation, then proofread longer sentences carefully. More consistent accuracy across these varied structures would strengthen the response.
