Student answer (Band 4.5)
Today people's minds and their fashion sence have been greatly influenced by the global fashin trends nowdays everyone tries to follow the on going trend wheather it is good or not they donot think about it they just follow. In my opinion I think it has become a very negative development in todays word. In the following paragraphs I will give reasons to support my opinion.
In today's world people have lost their minds and thinking skills and they donot think wheather the on going trend is good for them or not Or does it follow their religion and beleives and theirs custom or not they just follow it sometimes its fines but mostly it leaves a very bad impact on the society.
we are muslims and the westeren fashion trend is not good for us but people doesnot think about it and just follow the westeren trend and it always leaves a bad impression on our society for example as we are muslims and are prohibited to wear tight and fitting clothes but many people just ignore these restrictions and just wear them.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You give a clear opinion that global fashion is a negative development, and the example about tight-fitting clothes and Muslim restrictions is relevant to your view. However, the response addresses the two questions only minimally: it does not explain how global fashion became influential, and the reasons for its negative effects are asserted rather than developed. For example, “people have lost their minds and thinking skills” is a broad claim without supporting explanation or evidence. The response also contains 183 words, so it does not meet the required minimum of 250 words. To strengthen the answer, explain specific influences such as social media, celebrities, or international brands, then develop your position with examples and a concluding summary.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is a basic overall shape: an opening states your opinion, followed by a paragraph giving a reason and an example. The reader can follow the central point, and phrases such as “In my opinion” and “for example” signal the purpose of parts of the response. However, progression is limited: the first body paragraph repeats the idea that people follow trends without thinking, and the answer ends without a conclusion. Several ideas are joined in long, unclear sequences, particularly the sentence beginning “In today's world people have lost their minds…”. Use separate paragraphs for the causes of fashion’s influence and its effects, and connect each claim to an explanation or example. Clear sentence boundaries and more precise referencing would make the organisation easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “global fashion trends,” “society,” “religion,” and “restrictions,” which helps communicate your main concern. However, the range is basic and several expressions are repeated, especially “follow” and “trend.” There are also frequent spelling errors, such as “sence,” “fashin,” “nowdays,” “wheather,” and “beleives,” which reduce the accuracy and polish of the writing. Some phrases are imprecise or unnatural, including “lost their minds” and “bad impression on our society.” Build a wider set of accurate expressions for causes and effects, and proofread spelling. More precise wording would help you explain your argument without relying on repeated or overly broad phrases.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt to express connected ideas using clauses, for example, “whether the ongoing trend is good for them or not,” and the basic meaning is generally recoverable. However, sentence structures are mostly simple or run together, and errors in sentence boundaries and punctuation occur throughout. The opening combines several complete ideas without appropriate stops, while “people doesnot think” shows a subject–verb agreement error. Other examples include “people … are prohibited” followed by “people … just ignore,” where the relationship between the clauses needs clearer construction. Capitalisation is also inconsistent, as in “Or” and “we.” Practise writing shorter, correctly punctuated sentences first, then add controlled complex structures with accurate agreement and clause links.
