Student answer (Band 5.5)

A number of domains of fashion people adopt nowadays is impacted by the global fashion trends. This adoption has both positive and negative impact on the lives of people. This following of universal trends keep people up to dated with the global trends however, on contrary side, this is not affordable to everyone which may lead a number of people to financial depression. Both of the views will be discussed further in fine detail.

On the one hand, the global fashion has been adopted by a number of people and influence them to dress like people do in the rest of globe. This keep them in with the global trends, what's being liked and what isn't. For instance, a gathering in which everyone is dressed siilarly seems far more professional and organised as compared to a gathering with different dressings. This gives people a lot confidence and drive them to dress like others do.

Conversely, this following the global trends blindly may lead people to go through financial stress, since most of the fashion trends are barely affordable particularly when they are fresh in the market. This influence may impact lives of people negatively making it a negative upgrade. For example, in a colony where different kinds of individuals exist, it is not possible for all of them to dress similarly since everyone's financial circumstances are not as same as others leading the underdeveloped ones to major financial strain and underconfidence.

To conclude, the following of global fashion trends itself is not a negative development, however, making it affordable for everyone can curtail a major chunk of negative impacts, making it convinient for more people to be up to date with the trendy fashion,

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address both questions and give a broadly balanced view: global trends can help people feel current and confident, while expensive new fashions may create financial pressure. However, the explanation of how fashion became influential is only partly developed. The response mainly describes its effects, rather than explaining the mechanisms behind its influence, such as social media, advertising, celebrities, or international brands. Your position also shifts: the introduction presents both positive and negative impacts, while the conclusion says the trend itself is not negative but focuses on affordability. Examples such as people dressing alike at a gathering and differences in a colony’s finances are relevant, but their connection to global influence needs clearer explanation and support.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, two contrasting body paragraphs, and a conclusion. The progression from benefits to drawbacks is easy to follow, and signposts such as “On the one hand,” “Conversely,” and “To conclude” help guide the reader. This coherent structure is a strength. However, some linking is mechanical, and a few references are unclear, as in “This keep them in with the global trends,” where the relationship between the previous idea and the claim is difficult to follow. The conclusion introduces affordability as the main solution without fully connecting it to the earlier discussion. To strengthen cohesion, use more precise referencing and make each paragraph’s central point lead clearly into its example and explanation.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “global fashion trends,” “financial stress,” “financial circumstances,” and “professional and organised.” These choices allow you to discuss both social and economic effects. However, several word choices and collocations are noticeably inaccurate or unnatural, which sometimes makes the meaning less clear. For example, “financial depression” does not naturally express personal money problems, and “negative upgrade” is an unsuitable phrase for describing a development. There are also spelling errors such as “siilarly” and “convinient,” alongside awkward expressions such as “up to dated.” Aim for more precise, natural combinations and check spelling carefully; this will make your ideas easier to understand and give your vocabulary greater control.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a concession in “This following of universal trends keep people… however…” and a reason clause beginning “since most of the fashion trends…”. These attempts show some range, but complex structures are often faulty, and errors recur across the response. For example, “A number of domains … is impacted” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “This keep them” and “drive them” also need agreement with their subjects. The opening sentence of the second paragraph is difficult to control, and punctuation around “however” is incomplete. Work on agreement, sentence boundaries, and punctuation, and build longer sentences from accurate clauses before adding more complexity.
