Student answer (Band 5.0)

In the past, people lived simple life. Nowadays, they like to wear western dresses. Their outfit followed the global trend. It creates large impact on people's lives. This is negative development, i will explain the same with reasons and examples in my essay.

Firstly, most people follow western lifestyle because they want to look modern. Although they bought these expensive costumes, they suffered from money shortage. For example, Anjlina Joli wears skirt in their film which is much expensive. Most people of Asia influenced by their costume and buy it. Secondly, this development is against their traditions because Asian people wear simple dress but these are modern. For instance, Europian celebrities wear short dresses while these are considered more awkward in some Asian countries.

However, it creates difficulties in underdeveloped countries because there is money shortage. Some people can not afford these expensive costumes which creates negative impressions to their offspring. Furthermore, it breakes the rule of our traditions in many way. Whenever we go abroad, we adopt their culture instead of representing our culture. In many ways, we had impressed from their lifestyle.

In my conclusion, it is negative development because it ruins our life style and also our culture. We forget about our lifestyle of past. We spent lot of money to impress people. We also sufered from mental sickness because of this stress. We spent more money in order to adopt their culture. In many ways, people adopt global fashion trends which creates bad impact on their lives.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You state a clear negative view in the introduction and conclusion, and you give relevant concerns about spending, cultural traditions, and stress. However, the task asks both how global fashion became influential and whether this is positive or negative. Your response mainly explains why you consider it negative; it gives little account of the causes of its influence, beyond saying people want to look modern. The examples, such as Angelina Jolie’s clothing, are also not clearly connected to the wider process or supported with explanation. Develop the causes—for example, social media, celebrity culture, and international brands—and explain how each supports your position. This would make the response address both parts more fully and develop its ideas beyond brief assertions.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “In my conclusion” help readers identify the stages of your argument. However, progression is not always clear: the paragraph beginning “However” repeats the money-shortage point rather than introducing a distinct contrast, and the relationship between some examples and the main claims is unclear. Several ideas recur, especially that fashion costs money and weakens traditions, without being extended. Use each paragraph for one main point, explain it, and then connect it to a relevant example. More precise referencing and fewer repeated transitions would make the argument easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “global trend,” “traditions,” “underdeveloped countries,” and “mental sickness,” so the general meaning is usually understandable. However, the range is limited and several phrases are repetitive or inaccurate, which sometimes makes the intended meaning less clear. For example, “negative impressions to their offspring” does not clearly express the effect you mean, and “we had impressed from their lifestyle” is not a natural expression. Spelling errors such as “Europian,” “breakes,” and “sufered” also reduce accuracy. Build a more precise set of expressions for causes and effects, and check collocations and spelling when revising.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt some longer sentences, including the clause beginning “Although they bought these expensive costumes,” and most of the main ideas can still be understood. However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently in basic sentence patterns as well as in attempts at complex structures. Examples include “people lived simple life,” “most people of Asia influenced,” and “it breakes the rule,” where articles, passive forms, or subject–verb agreement are not controlled. Tense and sentence construction also shift, as in “We forget” followed by “We spent.” Practise accurate simple sentences first, then add subordinate clauses while checking articles, verb forms, agreement, and punctuation.
