Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is considered that the way individuals dress up nowadays are swayed by the international fashion brands. I largely believe that it has a negative impact on the society and culture, and this essay will discuss that how global fashion are too much impacting on individual's lives.
Commencing with why international fashion trends influence people's dressing sense. The primary reason is the social media. In other words, social media is used by every individual nowadays and people can easily access any kind of information throughout the world so individuals can easily see new trends on the online platforms like instagram, snapchat and youtube, where the celebrities and influencers promote new brands and trends to all around the world, which makes them curious to try the new trends. Thus, this directly influences individuals from any part of the world. Secondly, the online shopping applications help to shop anything from internationally or domestically, which makes shopping convenient and easy. For example, in 2025, 65% of the Indian females shopped through international shopping brands like shein. Therefore, the social media and online shopping applications create a strong influence on people's dress.
Meanwhile, I believe that this trend is a negative development. The first and foremost reason is the cultural erosion. To explain it, if celebrities and content creaters promoting other nation's dressing styles, this will directly impact on traditional culture of the society because young individual wants to wear or try the dress, which is collab by their favourite celebrities. For example, Salman Khan, who is an actor of bollywood industry, last year he promoted an international brand and the brand was famous among young people. Consequently, this influences the young generation to try that brand, which declines the importance of traditional clothes. Moreover, this trend can also affect negatively to domestic brands of a nation, as increasing the sales of international clothes day by day, this reduces the economic growth of domestic brands.
In conclusion, the global fashion trends mainly promote with the help of social media and online shopping applications, which is a negative development for the nation's society and culture because it leads to cultural erosion and decreases the growth of domestic brands.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address both parts of the question: you explain how social media, celebrity promotion and online shopping spread global trends, and you clearly judge the development negatively. The cultural-erosion point is relevant, and the example of a Bollywood actor helps illustrate how promotion can affect young consumers. Your second concern—that international sales may weaken domestic brands—is also pertinent. However, some support remains general or not fully explained: the shopping statistic is presented without showing how it demonstrates influence, while the Salman Khan example focuses on one brand rather than clearly showing a decline in traditional clothing. To strengthen the response, explain the cause-and-effect links more precisely and develop each example so it directly supports the claim being made.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph explaining the influence of global fashion, a paragraph evaluating its effects, and a conclusion that restates your position. Sequencing within the body paragraphs is generally logical, and signposts such as “Secondly,” “Moreover,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the argument. At times, however, linking feels mechanical, and some references are not fully clear. For instance, “this trend” can refer broadly to global fashion, celebrity promotion, or online shopping, while the relationship between the shopping statistic and the preceding point is not explicitly explained. The opening phrase “Commencing with why…” also reads like a fragment rather than a smooth topic sentence. Use clearer topic sentences and more precise referencing to make progression feel more natural.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “international fashion trends,” “cultural erosion,” “traditional clothes,” and “economic growth.” These choices communicate the main ideas, and you attempt some less common expressions. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “dress up,” “dressing sense,” “collab,” and “promote with the help of.” There are also spelling and form errors, including “creaters” and “instagram.” These do not prevent understanding, but they reduce precision and naturalness. Aim to use established academic collocations and check spelling and word forms carefully; for example, describe trends as “influencing clothing choices” and say that brands are “promoted through social media.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “because,” “which,” and “as,” and the overall meaning is usually clear. However, errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction remain noticeable. For example, “the way individuals dress up nowadays are swayed” has a subject–verb agreement problem, and “how global fashion are too much impacting” has errors in agreement and verb form. “If celebrities and content creaters promoting…” lacks a finite verb, while “as increasing the sales…” is not a complete grammatical construction. Some long sentences also combine several ideas without clear control. Practise building accurate complex sentences, especially conditional clauses and cause-and-effect structures, and check that every clause has a correctly formed verb.
