Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both parts of the prompt: you explain the influence of online platforms and state that the development is negative because it can encourage unnecessary spending. The examples involving Instagram advertising and seasonal clothing help make these points relevant. However, the explanation of how fashion becomes influential is mainly focused on social media; other possible mechanisms, such as celebrity culture or international brands, are not explored. The financial argument is also clearer than the broader effects on people’s lives, and the Zara example is difficult to interpret because the number of clothing sets is not explained convincingly. Develop each main idea with a clearer cause-and-effect explanation and make the example directly support the claim.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The first body paragraph explains the role of the internet, while the second shifts to the financial consequences, so the reader can follow the main progression. Linking phrases such as “As a result,” “For example,” and “In addition” help signal relationships between ideas. At times, however, the connections feel mechanical, and some references are unclear—for example, “this specific model” and “these products” do not identify precisely what is being discussed. The conclusion also repeats the main points rather than drawing them together. Use clearer references and vary transitions while ensuring each sentence follows directly from the previous one.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “global fashion trends,” “social media,” “promote,” “consumers,” and “financial hardship.” These choices show an attempt to discuss the issue beyond very basic language. However, spelling errors and inaccurate word forms are noticeable, including “defferent,” “amout,” “modle,” “fullfilment,” and “unwisly.” Several combinations are also unnatural, such as “people dressing,” “sets of dressing,” and “money expenditure.” These errors sometimes make the intended meaning harder to understand, particularly in the Zara example. Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning common collocations as complete phrases, such as “clothing choices,” “spend money,” and “fashion collection,” rather than translating expressions word by word.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a cause-and-effect sentence beginning “As a result” and a clause introduced by “because.” The overall meaning is usually recoverable, but some grammatical errors recur and occasionally make relationships between ideas unclear. For example, “The way people select their dressing affected” is missing a suitable verb construction, while “this create a need” has a subject–verb agreement error. In “Consumers are encourages,” the verb form is incorrect, and “Zara sales ten sets” needs a correctly formed verb. Articles, plurals and sentence boundaries also need attention. Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and finite verb, then review agreement and verb forms before submitting.
