Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is often argued whether global fashion trends has a positive impact on people's life or negative. Dressing yourself with the trending fashion of the world might have undeniable merits but its drawbacks brings serious consequences as well.
One of the advanatge of buying cloths that are trendy and in fashion worldwide can make people feel they are up-to-date and in pace with the modern world. Moreover, in a world full of societal differences, trendy fashion can largely assist people who want to maintain a standard in their society. As, the dressing sense of an individual reveals the overall personality, people tend to buy cloths that are globally in fashion so that the competition for accepting them in socity remains stable. For instance, from the last 5 years, Pakistanis are highly influenced with the western fashion industry, this has bought a great drift in fashion sense of them also.
On the other hand, the negative impact of this trend certainly outweighs its advantages. People belonging to the struggling middle and lower classes of the society, who are not financially stable and usually hand-to-mouth throughout the month, cannot afford to follow global fashion trends despite their desire. This can inculcate an inferiority complex in them and ultimately damage their overall personality and self-confidence as well. The pressure to maintain their class an any instituion during a random event can be a matter of disrespect for them when they cannot follow the theme or the trend for dressing accordingly.
In conclusion, from my perspective, I believe that although global fashion trends has greatly impacted individuals worldwide but this has proved to be effected negatively for certain societal classes. This trend is openly followed by elite class but it is better for most of the people to wear whatever they feel comfortable in without any fear of judgement. Every individual has a right to feel safe and confident in his/her skin.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both questions and make your overall view clear: global fashion can help people feel current and socially accepted, but you consider its effects negative for people who cannot afford it. The discussion of financial pressure and self-confidence is relevant, and the Pakistan example gives some context. However, the first question—how global fashion became so influential—is only partly answered. You describe why people follow trends, but do not explain the forces spreading them, such as social media, advertising, celebrities, or international brands. Some points, including the claim that fashion helps people maintain a social standard, also need clearer explanation or support. Develop the causes of fashion’s influence and extend the example to make the response more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, a paragraph presenting a benefit, a contrasting paragraph on disadvantages, and a conclusion. Linking phrases such as “Moreover,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” make the main shifts easy to follow. This coherent structure is a strength. Some connections between ideas are less smooth, however: the discussion moves from personality to social acceptance and then to Pakistan without fully showing how each point relates to the question. The conclusion also introduces the idea of comfort and freedom from judgement rather than drawing together the earlier explanation of global influence. To strengthen progression, use clearer links between each claim and its supporting example, and ensure the conclusion synthesises the main points.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “global fashion trends,” “inferiority complex,” “self-confidence,” and “societal differences.” These choices help communicate the central ideas, and some phrases show an attempt to express more nuanced effects. However, inaccurate word choice and collocation are noticeable and sometimes make the meaning less clear. For example, “maintain a standard in their society,” “competition for accepting them,” and “this has bought a great drift” do not express the intended ideas naturally. There are also spelling errors such as “advanatge,” “cloths,” and “socity.” Aim for precise, conventional collocations and check spelling carefully; this will make your arguments easier to understand and give your vocabulary more control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including clauses beginning with “who” and “when,” and the overall meaning is generally understandable. However, errors in agreement, articles, and sentence construction recur. For example, “global fashion trends has” should use a plural verb, while “its drawbacks brings” has a mismatch between the plural subject and verb. The opening phrase “It is often argued whether” is also not formed naturally as a reported question. In the final paragraph, “although … but” creates an incorrect paired construction. These issues sometimes make the reader pause, even though the main message remains clear. Practise checking subject–verb agreement and building complex sentences around one clear grammatical pattern.
