Student answer (Band 5.5)

Global fashion trends has become so impactful in how people clothe themselves nowadays. Through various platforms like facebook and instagram, a person can easily see what are the chic and stylish way to dress up real time.

The technological advancement through the form of media outlets has certainly became one of the contributory factor of the influential impact of global fashion especially among young individuals. Everyone who has mobile phones has all the access to getting inform and updated to everything that is going to the fashion world. From celebrity to media influencers, people are enticed to get on the hyped, follow the trend, and flexed it on their social accounts. This mindset has influenced a lot and brought people to thinking of being included in the trend.

It is my belief that the rise of fashion trends has a negative development. It definitely paves the way for aspiring designers and models to try and have their dreams come true but not all popular is always positive. There a lot of circulating videos online where clothes are considered fashionable when it looks like very uncomfortable for the model to move. Some designs are also not quite modest and appropriate to wear in public places. Normalizing what is not appropriate could have a negative impact on the minds of younger generations and the future of fashion industry. For instance, most of female young adult today dress up with a lot of skin displayed which is a bit alarming for possiblity of sexual harassment.

In conclusion, global fashion trend is now all over the internet and has become known to everyone. Despite its popularity, it also depicts unfavorable development to the young users and its future evolvement must be considered by everyone.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both parts of the prompt: you explain the influence of social media and state clearly that you view the development negatively. The examples of celebrities and influencers encouraging people to follow trends, and of revealing or uncomfortable clothing, are relevant. However, the explanation of how fashion became influential is mainly focused on online platforms; it would be stronger with another developed factor, such as international brands, advertising, or fast fashion. Your concern about clothing and harassment is also asserted rather than fully explained, and the point about opportunities for designers is not connected clearly to your overall judgement. Develop these ideas with specific reasoning and examples so that each part of the response is equally convincing.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph explaining the influence of media, a paragraph giving your negative view, and a conclusion. The progression from cause to evaluation is easy to follow, and phrases such as “It is my belief” signal your position. Some links between ideas are less clear, however. In the negative paragraph, the shift from opportunities for designers to uncomfortable clothing and then to modesty happens quickly, without showing how these points relate. The conclusion repeats the internet’s role and the negative view rather than drawing the main reasons together. Use clearer transitions between supporting points and make references such as “it” and “its future evolvement” more precise.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “global fashion trends,” “media influencers,” “fashionable,” “modest,” and “sexual harassment.” These choices make the subject clear, and phrases such as “paves the way” show an attempt to use less common language. However, several expressions are inaccurate or unnatural, including “get on the hyped,” “flexed it,” “contributory factor,” and “future evolvement.” There are also word-form and spelling problems, such as “getting inform” and “possiblity.” These do not prevent the reader from understanding your main points, but they reduce precision and naturalness. Aim for familiar, accurate collocations and check spelling and word forms when editing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “clothes are considered fashionable when it looks like…” and a conditional-style idea about normalising inappropriate clothing. The main message remains understandable, but errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction occur across the response. For example, “Global fashion trends has” should use a plural verb, while “has certainly became” needs the correct participle after “has.” In “There a lot of circulating videos,” the sentence is missing a verb, and “Everyone who has mobile phones has all the access” has problems with article use and structure. Practise checking subject–verb agreement and verb forms, then revise complex sentences to ensure each clause is complete.
