Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is no news that we are already living in a global village where any trend could travel wide like wild fire and fashion trend is no exception. This essay will analyse how this has become a trend with example and also give my view which is a negative development.
It is imperative to note that global fashion has such a strong influence on people due to the following reasons. First, the widespread availability of sophisticated medium of advertisment for instance phones, Television etc. which spread information faster than offline method. Again, it is been promoted by celebrities that are ambassadors and popular and could make the trend spread like wild fire and this has a great impact on people's live because it has to do with their decency which often is indecent.
Global fashion has a strong negative influence on people's lives through myriads ways. It alieniates people of their unique cultural exhibition as most people will clinge to a global uniform just because their favourite celebrity is an ambassador of a particular collection and in order to feel belonged, irrespective of whether or not it promotes decency, will join the band wagon relegating to the background their cultural attire . Again, global fashion depicts more of exuberance and promiscuity which is a red flag for positivity e.g it is no news that most of ZARA's collection which is often designed for models is a global trend that often make youths to predispose their bodies even when they are not in a modelling contest.
In conclusion, though global fashion could showcase sophistication and luxury, it is imperative to note that it does not make any mode of dressing better but promotes a singular idea that is not fitting for our heterogeneous world. It also promotes indecency.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address both parts of the prompt: you identify advertising and celebrity promotion as reasons global fashion spreads, and you clearly judge its effects to be negative. The discussion of cultural identity and pressure to follow celebrity-endorsed styles is relevant, while the Zara example gives the argument some concrete support. This meets the task well overall, but the explanation of how fashion becomes influential could be developed further—for example, by showing how social media exposure or international retail makes trends accessible and desirable. Some claims, such as fashion promoting “promiscuity,” are asserted rather than explained, and the conclusion mainly repeats your position. More balanced development of each reason would make the response more complete and persuasive.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs on the causes and negative effects, and a conclusion. Signposting such as “First,” “Again,” and “In conclusion” helps readers follow the main stages, and the central position remains consistent. However, some linking is mechanical, particularly the repeated use of “Again,” and several sentences contain multiple ideas that would be clearer if divided or connected more precisely. For instance, the sentence beginning “It alieniates people…” moves from cultural identity to celebrity influence and belonging without clearly separating the steps in the argument. Use more varied transitions and clearer references between ideas, while keeping each paragraph focused on one main point, to make progression smoother.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary and attempt some less common expressions, including “global village,” “cultural exhibition,” “heterogeneous,” and “relegating to the background.” These choices show ambition, and the overall meaning is generally understandable. However, several expressions are inaccurate or unnatural in context: “travel wide like wild fire,” “sophisticated medium of advertisment,” and “feel belonged” do not convey the ideas idiomatically. There are also spelling errors such as “advertisment,” “alien(i)ates,” and “clinge,” alongside imprecise phrases such as “global uniform.” Aim for accurate collocations and choose simpler wording when unsure; this will make your argument sound more natural and precise without reducing its range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of sentence forms, including complex clauses with “where,” “because,” and “irrespective of whether or not,” so there is some grammatical range. The main ideas can usually be understood, but errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction remain noticeable. Examples include “it is been promoted,” “fashion trend is no exception,” and “most of Zara’s collection … often make youths,” where the verb does not agree with its subject. The long sentence beginning “It alieniates people…” also becomes difficult to control, with clauses joined without clear grammatical boundaries. Practise checking subject–verb agreement and verb forms, and divide overloaded sentences into shorter, accurate units while retaining some complex structures.
