Student answer (Band 5.0)
Many argue about how global fashion influences on people’s lives especially the way they dress ,
personally , I firmly believe that people are not the same , everyone has their own characters ,the way they think and what influences them ,however i think this have two sides one beneficial and the other detrimental.
regarding the beneficial of the worldwide fashion’s influence , people who get influenced especially tend to always be on the trend , anytime something new appears they get and try it , this can give a sentiment of satisfaction. However there maybe a lot of disadvantages of this influence, firstly everybody have the same style , we barely see someone unique with his own style which describe his personality and preferences, secondly some human get too addicted to always be on the trend for example the iphone they always buy the new one , which is most the time the same as the previous one .
to conclude, the fashion influences is good if we chose wisely what convinced us and not just imitate and forget our preferences and personal touch.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You give a clear overall view that global fashion has both benefits and drawbacks, and you mention following trends, satisfaction, loss of individuality, and buying new phones. However, the task asks both how global fashion became so influential and whether this is positive or negative. The response mainly discusses possible effects and gives almost no explanation of the causes, such as social media, advertising, celebrities, or international brands. Your position is also qualified rather than fully clear: the conclusion says fashion is good if people choose wisely, but the disadvantages receive more attention. The ideas are brief and largely unsupported, and the response is 65 words below the required minimum. Develop each part of the question with explanations and relevant examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is a basic overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph presenting benefits and disadvantages, and a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “However,” “firstly,” “secondly,” and “to conclude” help signal the direction of ideas. However, progression is limited because the main body combines contrasting points in one paragraph, and the causes of fashion’s influence are not organised as a separate line of discussion. Some connections are unclear, particularly the shift from fashion to buying a new iPhone. Punctuation and spacing around commas also interrupt the flow. Use separate paragraphs for the causes and your evaluation, and connect examples explicitly to the point they support.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use a small range of relevant vocabulary, including “global fashion,” “on the trend,” “unique,” “personality,” and “preferences.” These terms make the general topic understandable, but several expressions are imprecise or unnatural, such as “get and try it,” “a sentiment of satisfaction,” and “the fashion influences.” Repetition of “influence,” “style,” and “trend” also limits variety. Some word choices make the intended meaning less clear, for example “some human” and “what convinced us.” Aim for more accurate collocations and topic-specific language, such as describing how trends spread or how consumers respond to them. This would make the argument clearer without requiring unnecessarily complex vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including a contrastive structure with “however” and a sentence listing disadvantages. Nevertheless, control is inconsistent, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. Examples include “people are not the same, everyone has,” which joins clauses incorrectly, “this have two sides,” and “everybody have.” There are also problems with articles and sentence boundaries, as in “the iphone they always buy the new one.” Capitalisation of “I” and “iPhone,” comma placement, and spacing around punctuation need attention. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and build longer sentences from correctly punctuated clauses before adding more complex structures.
