IELTS Writing Task 2 question

Many aspects of the way people dress today are influenced by global fashion trends.

How has global fashion become such a strong influence on people's lives? Do you think this is a positive or negative development?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, global fashion trends have the significant impact on the people's lives the way they dress around the world. I strongly believed, the worldwide fashion trends has a positve impact on individual lives because of social media.

Fashion trend is spread dramatically around the world. This is mainly caused by the international brands, social media content creators and celebarities. Global fashion trends encourage creativity and help individual to exchange their culture, norms and ideas. They are giving individual a sense of how to dress up according to the fashion trends. This is important for Individual to groom according to the modern world. The individual know how to dress up according to the trends and get the more chance of international exposure as compared to the individual who don't follows trend. Research shows the individuals who more concern about how to dress according to fashion trends get the more chance of get famous and exposure of international pr as compared to others. For example, Saniya a Pakistan beauty influencer get the pr from the international brands like dior, LV, Channel and many more just because of fashion trends. She promoting their brands and get the pr in return.

Meanwhile, there is also a disadvantage of fashion trends and have a neagtive impact on people's lives. Children and youngsters who lived in rural areas they are not financially stable.They live hand to mouth. They don't get the chance to follow the trends and dress up pretty as others can do. While the advantage of the global fashion trends outweighs its disadvantage.

In conclusion, fashion trends is dramatically rising around the world and have a significant impact on human lives while there also a disadvantages of fashion trends. In my opinion there is so benefits of the fashion trends they outweighs the disadvantages.

Linking phrases such as “Meanwhile” and “In conclusion” are useful, but some connections are mechanical, and “While the advantage ... outweighs its disadvantage” interrupts the explanation rather than smoothly concluding it. Use topic sentences to establish each paragraph’s central idea, group related supporting details together, and use clearer referencing so that repeated mentions of “individuals” and “trends” do not make the flow feel repetitive.

You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “global fashion trends,” “international brands,” “social media content creators,” “creativity” and “international exposure.” These choices make the subject clear, and you attempt some less common expressions. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or repetitive, such as “get the more chance,” “dress up pretty” and “fashion trends is dramatically rising.” Spelling errors, including “positve,” “celebarities” and “neagtive,” also reduce accuracy. There are also sentence-boundary and punctuation problems, such as the run-together “financially stable.They live.” Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and verb, consistent tense, and correct singular or plural forms; this will improve control while retaining your attempts at complex sentences.
