Student answer (Band 6.0)

In the recent decades, global fashion trends has an unprecedented affect on people's dressing .

Social media platforms are mainly become the source of attraction towards internation fashion trends. Although it has some positive aspects but its upgrowing influence have more negative affect on individuals lives.

In today's world, majority of the population tend to follow various dressing styles which are trending on global markets. This is mainly due to the use of social media digital platforms like instagram, tiktok, youtube. People follow various celebrities and clothing brands on these platforms. The global marketing ads and campaigns attract communities towards different dressing styles. This led to the development of interest in adapting global fashion trends.

Although, it has some positive aspects on individuals lives in a way, that people show harmony and respect by adapting and wearing various cultures clothing. It also gives self satisfaction to the people who buy the clothes from branded outlets from their own money. Also, the use of digital platforms also made it easy to buy things online from gobal market on instant basis without any hustle or to go to another country for shopping.

Nevertheless, the disadvantages of global fashion trends influence outweigh the positive development. Firstly, people begin to develop more addiction towards international fashion trends and start adapting them. This lead to forgetfullness of their own traditional culture. For instance, most people in Pakistan follow the western culture clothing and they hardly wear traditional shalwar kammeez on most occasions. Also, it also impose financial burden on most of the low- income parents when their adolescents begin insisting them to buy expensive branded clothes just to follow the trends. Furthermore, people mostly buy the things to flex in front of friends and family which they donot find attractive and of of no use to them.

In conclusion, it is exceptionally believed that global fashion trends has a great impact on people lives now a days. Social media platforms has diverted a strong attraction of individuals towards international market. This lead to impose negative impacts sucha s financial burdens on families, loss of interest of youth in traditional clothing and a strong addiction towards trend following that may lead to disappointment in the end. It is suggested that people should keep a balance in clothing style while following their own culture clothing on social media to introduce their country's local brands on social media to global market and boost local economy.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both parts of the prompt: you explain the influence of social media, celebrities, brands and advertising, and you clearly argue that the development is more negative than positive. The examples of online shopping and pressure on families help make the discussion relevant, while the Pakistan clothing example supports your concern about cultural change. This meets the task well, and your position is clear in the introduction and conclusion. However, some points are asserted more than explained: for example, the claim that people lose interest in traditional clothing could be developed by showing how repeated exposure to global styles changes their choices. The positive points about cultural respect and personal satisfaction are also less fully explored. More balanced development and specific supporting detail would strengthen the response.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure, moving from the causes of global fashion’s influence to its benefits, drawbacks and a concluding opinion. Paragraphing is appropriate, and signposts such as “Nevertheless,” “Firstly” and “Furthermore” help readers follow the argument. The introduction and conclusion also reinforce your central view. At times, however, linking is mechanical or the relationship between ideas is unclear. For instance, “Although, it has some positive aspects…” is followed by “Nevertheless,” which creates a somewhat formulaic contrast, and “Also, it also” repeats a connector. Some references, such as “This led to the development of interest,” are not fully precise about what “This” refers to. Use a wider range of natural transitions and make links between claims explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “global marketing,” “financial burden,” “traditional culture,” “branded outlets” and “local economy.” These choices allow you to discuss causes and consequences, and some phrases show an attempt to use more specific language. However, errors in spelling, word form and collocation are noticeable and sometimes make the wording awkward: “internation fashion trends,” “upgrowing influence,” “show harmony,” and “impose financial burden” are examples. There is also repetition of general terms such as “people,” “trends” and “platforms,” which limits precision. Aim to learn common word partnerships and check spelling carefully; more accurate phrasing would make your ideas clearer and demonstrate greater flexibility.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including contrast clauses and examples, as in “Although it has some positive aspects…” and “when their adolescents begin insisting them…”. This gives the response some structural variety, and the main message is generally understandable. However, errors occur across the response, particularly with subject–verb agreement, verb forms, articles and sentence construction. Examples include “global fashion trends has,” “its upgrowing influence have,” and “Social media platforms has”; these subjects require plural verb forms. The sentence beginning “Although it has some positive aspects…” is also incomplete in its construction, and several long sentences would benefit from clearer punctuation. Practise checking agreement and building complex sentences accurately before adding further clauses.
