Student answer (Band 6.0)
The way people dress today are largely influenced by social media, celebrities and international brands. In my opinion, this is positive development of people lives who are strongly influenced by the global fashion trends despite some drawbacks.
Social media and other platforms like instragram & youtube spread fashion trends worldwide. Influencers and celebrities promote clothing styles. Young people try to replicate the style of their favourite personalities. Furthermore, brands sell similar styles in different countries.E-commerce has given fashion the international platform. People can purchase the latest clothing designs easily on online shopping portals. For example Young Indians may adopt Western-style outfits after seeing fashion influencers wearing them on Instagram.
The positive side of development is people have more clothing choices and styles. Personality and creativity can be express by people with the help of influencing fashion. With help of influencing fasion, sometimes consumer behaviour are introduce by different cultural traditions. For example traditional clothing such as the chaniya choli remain popular during festivals like Navratri.
There are also a few negative effects of development of global fashion. Firstly, excessive spending to maintain a fashionalbe appearance and peer pressure to follow trends. Secondly, fast fashion can increase textile waste and evironmental pollution. For example Some consumers frequently buy inexpensive, trendy clothes and discard them quickly, contributing to textile waste.
In conclusion, social media and brands are the main influences on the global fashion trends. In my opinion, the development is overall positive, provided people make responsible fashion choices.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both questions: the first body paragraph explains the influence of social media, celebrities, brands and online shopping, while the later paragraphs give positive and negative effects. Your overall view—that the development is positive if people make responsible choices—is clear. However, the explanation of why fashion has become influential is stronger than the discussion of its effects. The positive points about choice, creativity and cultural traditions are mentioned but not fully explained, and the Navratri example does not clearly show how global fashion itself benefits people. The negative effects are more concrete. The response is also three words below the required minimum. Develop each main point with a clearer explanation or a directly relevant example, and ensure the response meets the stated length.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs on causes and effects, and a conclusion. This makes the line of argument easy to follow, and signposts such as “Furthermore,” “Firstly,” and “In conclusion” help readers identify the stages. The contrast between benefits and drawbacks is also logically arranged. To move beyond this level, make connections between ideas more flexible and precise rather than relying mainly on basic sequencing phrases. For example, the paragraph on positive effects moves from clothing choice to self-expression and then cultural traditions without explaining how these points relate. Some sentences also feel like lists, particularly the two negative effects. Add linking explanations and ensure examples clearly support the point immediately before them.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “global fashion trends,” “influencers,” “E-commerce,” “peer pressure,” and “textile waste.” These terms help communicate the main ideas, and there are attempts at more specific expressions such as “international brands” and “environmental pollution.” However, the range is limited in places, and several inaccurate word choices or spelling errors reduce precision: “fashionalbe,” “evironmental,” and “influencing fasion” are examples. Phrases such as “development of people lives” and “fashion the international platform” are also unnatural and may briefly distract the reader. Build a bank of accurate collocations for discussing influence, consumer choices and sustainability, and proofread spelling and word forms before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mixture of simple and more developed sentences, including the conditional structure in “provided people make responsible fashion choices” and the example introduced with “after seeing.” However, control is uneven, and errors occur in basic sentence patterns as well as longer constructions. For instance, “The way people dress today are” has subject–verb disagreement, while “this is positive development” is missing an article. “Personality and creativity can be express” has an incorrect verb form, and “Firstly, excessive spending…” is a sentence fragment rather than a complete clause. There are also punctuation and spacing problems around sentence boundaries. Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and finite verb, then review agreement, articles and verb forms.
