Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is argued that the way people dress recently are influential by the global fashion trends. This is because of the advance of technology and celebrities in the society. from my own perspective this is a negative development as its disadvantage outweighs the advantage i will give you my opinion on that.

social media as a common cause of the influence in fashion sense , this is mostly caused my celebrities and famous individuals who put on beautiful attires. for example when you see how this public figures dress you may not be confident when you come out in mass some may feel less confident while others may feel inferior.

secondly, it can influence the global fashion trends by making the clothes expensive. when there is high demand in a fashion style there is likely to be increase in price as well. for example when there is a fast selling cloth it will become expensive but when there is low demand the company or the marketers will reduce the price of the commodity. In addition, skilled individuals are creating more and more fashion trends as this can make one disvalue there old clothes because they wan to get the latest trending styles as a result of this it can cause jealousy oo for example when a poor man see a rich man putting on the latest fashion he or she may stay envying the person wearing the cloth amd by so do jealousy has arose.

To conclude, fashion trends are very influential with many negative reasons , the only good thing about fashion trend is that when you dress well you have a sense of belonging and satisifaction.especially when you come out in the public.but, i stand on a firm point that fashion trends should not be influential just have a good fashion sense dont be pressured by other peoples dressing style.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both questions: you identify social media and celebrities as influences, and you clearly state that you see the development as negative. The examples about feeling inferior and wanting expensive, fashionable clothes are relevant. However, the explanation of how global fashion became influential is only partly developed; technology is mentioned in the introduction but not explained, and the discussion focuses mainly on negative effects rather than showing how trends spread. Some points, such as jealousy and price increases, are asserted without enough explanation or a specific example. To strengthen the response, explain the role of online platforms, advertising, or international brands, then develop each effect with a clear cause-and-result chain.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has an introduction, body paragraphs and a conclusion, and signposts such as “secondly,” “for example” and “to conclude” help show the intended structure. The main ideas are generally grouped by topic. However, progression within the body is sometimes difficult to follow: the second paragraph moves from prices to old clothes and then jealousy without clearly connecting these points. Several linking phrases are repetitive or awkwardly used, and references such as “this” and “it” do not always make the intended connection clear. Use one central idea per paragraph, order supporting details logically, and make links explicit—for example, explain how social media exposure leads to pressure to buy new styles.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “global fashion trends,” “high demand,” “latest trending styles” and “sense of belonging.” This gives the reader a basic understanding of your ideas. However, the range is limited and several word choices or combinations are inaccurate or unclear, such as “influence in fashion sense,” “disvalue there old clothes” and “jealousy has arose.” Repetition of “fashion,” “clothes” and “influence” also limits precision. Aim to learn natural collocations for this topic and check spelling and word forms carefully. More precise expressions such as “shape people’s clothing choices” and “feel pressured to keep up with trends” would help communicate your points more clearly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt some longer sentences and use clauses to give reasons and examples, but the range of structures is limited, and errors are frequent enough to make parts of the response difficult to read. For example, “the way people dress recently are influential” has problems with tense and subject–verb agreement, while “when there is high demand in a fashion style there is likely to be increase in price” needs clearer article use and sentence punctuation. There are also run-on sentences and inconsistent capitalisation, including the start of sentences with lowercase letters. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with controlled clauses using “because,” “when” and “which.”
