Student answer (Band 5.5)

In recent years, many aspects of the way individuals dress nowadays are influenced by global fashion trends. This is mainly for using widespread of social media and the influencers celebraty. Although it has some advantages on people's lives, I believe that global fashion has largely negative development because it encourage people unnecessary consumption and reduce individuality.

To begin with, there are several reasons why global fashion influence people's lives. Firstly, social media platforms such as instagram, facebook, and tiktok allows people to see a wide range of products, then they decided to purchase this items. To give an example, in Bangladesh, many people spent their most of the time using a smartphone and they watch numerous product, which greatly influnce them to purchase this products. Secondly, many femous people or celebraty person continue to provide their own clothes and share their lifestyles on social media. As a result, people find it more encourage to buy this dress and it greatly influence peopel's lives.

On the other hand, global fashion has some advantages on people's live because individuals can see many products and they can purchase this according to their chooce. Some people, particularly students or young people always follow global trends and global fashion strong influence their lives. However, in today's world, global trends cause largely negative development because people may spent a large amount of money to buy unnecessary products and it also reduce face-to-face interaction. For instance, when people watch their favourite celebraties promoted a dress they find encourage to buy it, even though it not need their lives.

In conclusion, people global fashion trends are influence greatly to spread of social media and the celebraty persons. Although it has some benefits on people's lives because individuals can see variety of products from home, I believe that global fashion trends cause largely negative development because it encourage people to purchase unnecessary consumption and reduce individuality.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both parts of the prompt: you explain the influence of social media and celebrity promotion, and you give a clear view that the development is largely negative. The examples involving platforms such as Instagram and TikTok and people buying clothes promoted by celebrities are relevant. However, the explanation of how these influences operate is more developed than the evaluation of their effects. The positive side is briefly described as access to a variety of products, while the claims that fashion reduces face-to-face interaction and individuality are not clearly explained or supported. Develop these points with a specific example and show more directly how global trends affect people’s choices or behaviour.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, body paragraphs and a conclusion, and signposts such as “To begin with,” “On the other hand” and “In conclusion” help identify the stages of the argument. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear: the second body paragraph moves from benefits to students following trends and then to negative effects without fully connecting these points. Some linking phrases are also used mechanically, and references such as “this products” and “this dress” do not always make the intended meaning clear. Organise each paragraph around one main point, then explain and illustrate it before moving to the next idea.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “global fashion trends,” “social media platforms,” “purchase” and “unnecessary consumption.” This gives you enough language to communicate the main argument. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation and spelling errors make parts less natural or occasionally difficult to follow. Examples include “the influencers celebraty,” “find it more encourage,” “their chooce” and “reduce individuality.” Repetition of “people,” “products” and “influence” also limits precision. Build a wider set of accurate phrases for describing promotion, consumer behaviour and personal identity, and check spelling and word forms carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a concession in “Although it has some advantages…” and a conditional idea in “even though it not need their lives.” These attempts show some range, but control is inconsistent, and errors in agreement, verb forms, articles and sentence construction sometimes make the meaning harder to follow. For example, “platforms … allows” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “people may spent” uses the wrong verb form. The final sentence, “people global fashion trends are influence greatly,” is also difficult to interpret because its structure is faulty. Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and verb, then review agreement and verb forms.
