Student answer (Band 5.5)

Growing impact of social media comes with its lots of advantages and exposures, one such can be seen resulting in growing influence of Global fashion trends. Many people now understand a global perspective of fashion of how it is perceived across various continents, which evokes curiosity among people especially a young generation. I believe a mind exposed to new perspective cannot go back to its original dimension. This can be amlified by observing how people are more drawn towards global aspects of fashion.

In current times, people can comfortably access to any such fashion trend across the globe with one search button, leading to evolving the approach of fashion. I firmly belive it certainly has many positive impacts as following these trends or being informed brings about a feeling of belonging or a sense of community. Online community platform is one of the major factor responsible for this growing trend, where likeminded people come together share their opinions and thoughts on the trends they follow. These platforms are not confined to a particular country or continent, people from vivid backgrounds and ethinicities some together to make an impact on a lareger scale. With the rise of social media, most popular category has turnd out to be fashion infulencers who have now taken over the algorithms and continue to introduce the audience with various niche category of fashion trends from local to an extent of international fashion trends.

In my opinion, Fashion has always been obserevd as a luxury, a controvercial affair which has never failed to catch attentions of many influential people throught out the ancient times. However, It was restircted to certain society, making it difficult to be commercially widespread. Now that these stories are efortlessly available through various mediums, one would definietly love to acess and follow these trends.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both questions: you explain the influence through easy online access, social-media communities and fashion influencers, and you state that you see the development as positive. These are relevant reasons, especially the point that online platforms connect people across countries. However, the explanation of how fashion became influential is stronger than the evaluation of whether this is positive. The final paragraph shifts to fashion’s historical status as a luxury and its wider availability, but does not clearly explain why that change is beneficial or consider any limitation. Several claims, such as fashion being the most popular social-media category, would also benefit from a specific example or clearer support. Develop the positive effects more fully and keep the position explicit throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a recognisable paragraph structure: an introduction, a paragraph about online access and communities, and a final paragraph about fashion’s history and availability. Ideas within the main body are generally related, and phrases such as “With the rise of social media” help signal a shift. However, the overall progression is not consistently clear. The final paragraph introduces historical luxury without a strong link to the earlier explanation, and the conclusion does not clearly summarise your answer to both questions. Some connections are awkward or repetitive, including “one such can be seen resulting in” and the repeated references to trends and platforms. Use clearer topic sentences and transitions to show how each paragraph advances your argument.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “global perspective,” “sense of community,” “ethnicities,” “influencers” and “commercially widespread.” This gives you some flexibility in discussing fashion and social media. However, inaccurate word choice, collocation and spelling are noticeable and sometimes make the meaning less clear. For example, “growing impact … comes with its lots of advantages and exposures” is unnatural, while “introduce the audience with” and “catch attentions” are not appropriate collocations. There are also misspellings such as “amlified,” “belive” and “ethinicities.” Aim for precise, natural phrases rather than elevated wording that does not fit the sentence, and proofread carefully for spelling and word forms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “fashion influencers who have now taken over the algorithms” and a conditional structure in “Now that these stories are effortlessly available …”. However, control is uneven, and some sentence patterns are faulty or difficult to follow. For example, “people can comfortably access to any such fashion trend” has an incorrect verb pattern, and “where likeminded people come together share their opinions” is missing a grammatical link between the verbs. There are also problems with articles, agreement and punctuation, as in “Online community platform is one of the major factor.” Review verb patterns, singular/plural agreement and sentence boundaries, then check each sentence for a complete, clearly connected structure.
