Student answer (Band 5.0)
Nowaday, widespread fashion trends influence people, which are visible in various aspects of the way they dress. There are many reasons for how these global fashion trends had such an influence on people's lives. I believe this evolution has a positive impact beacuse it has allowed self-expression and raised awareness about inclusive fashion.
Fashion trends, that pops up all the time, allow people to explore the way they present themselves. This process enables creativity, in which fashion lovers can pick-and-chose what they like and what they are comfortable in. This state of creativity helps them to present unique looks that expresses who they are.
Furthermore, fashion developed with time into an inclusive industry for everyone. Fashion took responsiblity to provide for people of different races, disabilities, or body types. This gave people confidence and courage no matter what they are going through.
Some argue that fashion trends are promoting an unachievable beauty standards but I believe it has reaped benefits by allowing people to realize beauty achievable by self-expression.
In conclusion, the fashion industry evolved throughout the years yet it helped lost

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You state a clear positive view and give two relevant reasons: fashion can support self-expression and has become more inclusive. These points address the opinion part of the question, but the explanation of how global trends became influential is largely missing. The essay does not explain mechanisms such as social media, advertising, celebrities, or international brands, so one major part of the prompt is only minimally addressed. The reasons for your positive view are also asserted rather than supported with specific examples; for instance, the claim that fashion serves people with disabilities is not illustrated. The response is 68 words below the required minimum, which further limits the development of your ideas. Explain both parts of the question and extend each point with a concrete example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs, a counterargument, and a conclusion. Paragraphs generally focus on one idea, and transitions such as “Furthermore” and “In conclusion” help signal movement. However, the overall progression is weakened because the body paragraphs discuss benefits without first explaining how global fashion gained influence, and the counterargument is not developed or clearly connected to the response. Some links are awkward, as in “This process enables creativity, in which…” and “This state of creativity,” where the references are not fully clear. The conclusion is incomplete (“it helped lost”), leaving the essay without a finished final message. Organise the response around the two questions and ensure each paragraph connects clearly to the next.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “self-expression,” “inclusive industry,” “body types,” and “beauty standards,” which helps communicate the main ideas. There is also an attempt to use less common phrasing such as “unachievable beauty standards.” However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, including “Nowaday,” “beacuse,” “responsiblity,” and “pick-and-chose.” Some collocations are unnatural or unclear, particularly “fashion took responsibility to provide for people” and “realize beauty achievable by self-expression.” The unfinished final phrase also prevents the intended meaning from being understood. Aim for accurate, natural combinations of words and check spelling carefully; more precise vocabulary would make your arguments clearer and more convincing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a mixture of simple and complex sentences, including a relative clause in “Fashion trends, that pops up all the time…” and a contrast clause beginning “Some argue that… but…”. However, control is inconsistent, and several errors affect accuracy. For example, “trends… pops” has subject–verb disagreement, while “unique looks that expresses” should use a plural verb. The opening sentence also has an awkward clause structure, and the final sentence is incomplete, so its grammatical meaning cannot be followed. Punctuation around the relative clause is also problematic. Practise checking agreement and sentence completeness, and use complex structures only when you can control their clauses reliably.
