Student answer (Band 5.5)
Recently there have been changes of how people dress and this has been greatly influenced by the global fashion trends and changes in the international fashion market. The essay will discuss both positive and negative development of global fashion trends.
Global fashion has influenced how people live in the recennt years through the wide use of social media like tik tok, instagram and google people are able to see the trending clothes in the international market and they are able to purchase online within few seconds since they just add to their list of orders and press order. Celebrities and social media influencers have played a major role on the changes of the fashion, they advertise wear some fashionable and outshining clothes this inturn makes the pople who are following the influencers to purchase the clothes because its trending and they have been influenced by the celebrities and social media, this has opened the international markets and people are now able to chose from wide variety of the fashion clothing and creating more employment opportunities.
On the other hand, the global market has led to negative development by affecting the local markets. Through the rise of global fashion trends most people have shifted to international market since it enables them to compare wide variety of clothes before purchasing them and they are at an affordable prices and this has really affected the local marketing since only few people are buying from them and this inturn will led to danger of closing done of the shops hence affecting the people who were depending on the local market.
In conclusion, the government should come up with measures on regulating the global fashion trends inorder to also protect the local markets. Both international market and local should work together inorder to produce quality fashionable products at a reasonable price to people.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both parts of the prompt: social media, online purchasing and celebrity promotion explain how global fashion spreads, while the effect on local shops provides a negative consequence. However, the discussion of whether this is positive or negative is not fully resolved. You mention employment opportunities as a benefit, but do not explain how these arise or weigh them against the harm to local businesses. The conclusion recommends regulation and cooperation, yet does not clearly state your own overall judgement of the development. To strengthen the response, make your position explicit and develop each main point with a specific example or explanation, such as how influencer advertising changes purchasing habits or how local retailers could be affected.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, a paragraph explaining the influence of global fashion, a contrasting paragraph on local markets, and a conclusion. The progression from causes to consequences is generally understandable, and phrases such as “On the other hand” help signal a shift. However, the first body paragraph contains several ideas in one long sentence, making the links between social media, purchasing, employment and market access difficult to follow. Some connections are also repetitive, particularly the repeated references to influencers and international markets. Use clearer sentence boundaries and organise each paragraph around one central point, with linking phrases that show cause and result rather than simply adding information.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “global fashion trends,” “social media influencers,” “international markets” and “local markets,” so the main ideas are generally clear. However, the range is limited and several expressions are imprecise or awkward, such as “changes of how people dress,” “advertise wear” and “local marketing.” Spelling errors, including “recennt,” “pople” and “chose,” also reduce accuracy. Some wording is repeated, especially “market” and “fashion,” where more precise alternatives could make the discussion clearer. Build a wider set of accurate collocations for describing influence, consumer behaviour and business effects, and proofread spelling and word forms carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt to connect ideas using longer sentences and clauses, for example when explaining how social media allows people to see and buy trending clothes. However, these complex sentences are often faulty or difficult to control, and several run on without clear punctuation. In “they are at an affordable prices,” the article and plural form do not agree; “this inturn will led” also has an incorrect verb form. There are further problems with sentence boundaries and clause structure in the first body paragraph, which can make the reader work to identify the main point. Practise writing shorter, complete sentences first, then combine them accurately using conjunctions and relative clauses. Check agreement, verb forms and punctuation during revision.
