Student answer (Band 5.0)

There has been a growing debate about whether many aspect of the ways people dress today are influence by global fashion trends. I personally believe that this will be a positive effect that people change their mind to wear modern clothes.

Firstly, we will discuss the old mind people. Who have no experience of modern world or fashion and he will not using any social media. For example the old mind people who have no experience about the society the wear old clothes, the clothes were not match the society trends so everyone thinks he is a dumb. People mindset will set at the judgement of how the person wear dress and they saw it and give them respect by their dress prices. If the price was high and the dress was expensive everyone give him a respect.

Secondly, many young adults use to much social media and they watch actress and actors. Who wear a very expensive and very unique dress, so he decided to wear the same dress. Mostly in reality the dresses that the actors or actress wear in the movie or tv series the dresses is sponsered by big brands to increase their sales in business.

Another positive effect is, he work hard to buy the dress and wear it that he was seen in the movie or television. This improve their ability to do somethind in practicall life for himself and their family members.

But, this was also a negative effect for those who are not able to buy it. The middle class peoples in our society fell less to those peoples who wear expensive clothes in front of them.

In conclusion, global fashion trend is positive for everyone and they provide a wide range of knowledge for old peoples. But they provide negative effects for poor people who had not enough money to buy dress.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You give a clear overall view that global fashion is mainly positive, while acknowledging a disadvantage for people who cannot afford expensive clothing. You also offer relevant examples involving social media, celebrities and brand sponsorship. However, the task asks both how global fashion became influential and whether this is positive or negative. The explanation of influence is only partly developed: social media and celebrity clothing are mentioned, but the role of global communication, advertising or access to international brands is not explained. Several claims, such as expensive clothes earning respect and fashion motivating people to work, are asserted without enough support, and the conclusion’s claim that trends provide knowledge for older people is unclear. Develop the causes and evaluate the effects more directly.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

Your response has an introduction, separate body paragraphs and a conclusion, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “Secondly” and “But” help show the intended structure. However, the progression is not consistently clear because some paragraphs shift between ideas without explaining their connection. For example, the first body paragraph moves from older people’s lack of social-media use to clothing prices and respect, while the next paragraph’s celebrity example is followed by a separate claim about working hard. Some sentence fragments, including “Who have no experience of modern world or fashion,” interrupt the flow, and references such as “he” and “they” are sometimes unclear. Organise each paragraph around one main point and connect each example explicitly to the question.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “global fashion trends,” “social media,” “unique dress,” “sponsored by big brands” and “middle class.” This gives the response a basic range for discussing fashion and its effects. However, vocabulary is often repetitive or imprecise, particularly repeated uses of “dress,” “people” and “positive effect.” Some word choices make ideas difficult to interpret, such as “old mind people,” “fell less” and “do something in practical life.” Spelling errors such as “sponsered” and “somethind” also reduce accuracy. Build a more precise set of expressions for influence, affordability and social status, and check spelling and collocations so your meaning is consistently clear.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, including a conditional structure in “If the price was high and the dress was expensive…” and a reason clause beginning “so.” However, the range is limited, and attempts at longer structures are often faulty. Errors in agreement and verb forms appear in “many aspect…are influence,” “the dresses…is sponsored” and “everyone give him a respect.” Sentence fragments such as “Who wear a very expensive…” and “Who have no experience…” also prevent complete, controlled sentences. Articles, plurals and punctuation are inconsistent, which sometimes makes relationships between ideas hard to follow. Practise forming complete sentences with accurate subject–verb agreement, and combine clauses using clear, correctly punctuated structures.
