Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, global fashion trends have a significant impact on the way people chooes their dress. This is mainly due to widespread use of social media and the growing popularity of international clothing brands. Although it has some negative impacts. From my perespective, this is a largely postive development because people have alot of choice to choice.

To begin with, there are several reason why global fashion has become popular. Firstly, social media platforms such as tiktok, instagram, facebook and youtube allow people to see different cothing style worn by celebrities and infulencer. yAs a result, many people want to follow this fashion trends to look fashion just like their favourite actors. Secondly, international clothing brands expanded their branch into different countires such as, zara, gucci and lama making modern cothes easy available. Online shopping has also made it possible for people to purchase from other part of the world without visiitng a store. For example, a person who is living in pakistan can wear european and american style cloths via online.

On the other hand, some people spend a significant amount of money on international brands simply to follow trends, which can create financial pressure. In addition, traditional clothing may less popular if individuals mainly focus on international trends. Therefore, many people with financial circumcanstances can not afford to purchase fashionable cloths becuase of they are too much expensive and they feel streesed.

In conclusion, international fashion trends encourage people to unnecessary and and reduce interest in traditional cloths. From my perespective, individuals have a greater choice and freedom of expression.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both parts of the question: social media, celebrities and international brands are offered as reasons for fashion’s influence, and you give a broadly positive view while acknowledging financial pressure and reduced interest in traditional dress. However, the position is not consistently clear: the introduction calls the development positive, whereas the conclusion says trends “encourage people to unnecessary” without completing the idea, before returning to choice and self-expression. Several points are asserted rather than explained, especially the positive case, which is mostly reduced to having more choice. Develop this benefit with a specific explanation or example, and make the conclusion clearly weigh it against the disadvantages. This would make the response more complete and its ideas less limited and under-developed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, a paragraph explaining causes, a paragraph on disadvantages and a conclusion. Sequencing within the causes paragraph is generally understandable, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “Secondly” and “On the other hand” help identify the stages of the argument. However, progression is weakened by abrupt or incomplete connections. “Although it has some negative impacts” is a fragment, and the conclusion’s phrase “encourage people to unnecessary” leaves the relationship between ideas unclear. The shift from the disadvantages to the final positive judgement is also not fully reconciled. Use complete linking sentences, refer clearly back to the ideas already discussed, and make the conclusion synthesise rather than introduce an unclear claim.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “global fashion trends,” “international clothing brands,” “financial pressure” and “freedom of expression.” These phrases show an attempt to discuss causes and consequences rather than relying only on very basic terms. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate word choices or collocations make parts difficult to understand, such as “look fashion,” “choice to choice” and “encourage people to unnecessary.” Spelling errors are also frequent, including “chooes,” “perespective,” “cothing” and “becuase,” which reduce clarity. Build a bank of accurate topic phrases and check spelling and word forms carefully. More precise expressions for following trends, affordability and cultural identity would help communicate your ideas more effectively.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt some longer structures, including “Although it has some negative impacts” and the sentence beginning “Therefore,” but control is inconsistent. The opening “Although” clause is left without a main clause, and “many people with financial circumcanstances can not afford … becuase of they are too much expensive” contains faulty clause construction and agreement. Other examples include “international clothing brands expanded their branch” and “traditional clothing may less popular,” where verb forms or sentence structure are incomplete. Most sentences are understandable in context, but these recurring errors sometimes make the intended meaning difficult to follow. Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check agreement, articles and clause links when combining ideas.
