Student answer (Band 5.5)
Nowadays, various reason behind the global clothing trends were lot of individual are attracted towards this. There are many reasons backed this trend, and I believe, this is a negative development, because this changing trends has negative impacts on evniroment.
To begin with, the fast moving fashion requires huge amount of raw materials. These materials come from natural resources. Recent study made on manufacturing of cloths reported, thousands of liters of water is required to produce fabrics. Also it reported on an average only 8 times a a single cloth is weared, due to fast change in the fashion trends. However this leads to create mass amount of wastage of cloths. For instance, many people in the Africian regioan do not have cloths to were, rather than burning we could donate cloths which we can not use anymore.
Subseqently, in today's era where everyone uses social media, which created an bad impact on society. For example, fashion brands like Leivs, uses social media platforms like Facebooks, Instagrams and Tiktok to promot their brand. In which influencer play a crucial role to advertisement. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You give a clear overall view that global fashion is harmful, and you support this with relevant environmental concerns, including water use, discarded clothing and pollution. However, the task asks both how global fashion became influential and whether this is positive or negative. The negative judgement is clear, but the explanation of its influence is less fully developed: social media and influencers are mentioned, yet the link between these platforms, global trends and people’s clothing choices needs clearer explanation. Some supporting claims, such as clothing waste being thrown into oceans, are also asserted without explanation or a specific example. Develop both parts of the question more evenly and make the examples directly support your reasoning.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
Your response has a recognisable introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the paragraphs broadly separate environmental effects from social-media influence. You also use signposts such as “To begin with,” “For instance” and “In conclusion.” However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow. In the second body paragraph, the discussion moves from brands and influencers to pressure on adults, advice to stop buying clothes, and then ocean and air pollution, without clear links between these points. Some connectors, including “However” and “Furthermore,” do not clearly express the relationship between the sentences they join. Group related ideas together and use clearer references and transitions so each paragraph develops one main point.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “raw materials,” “natural resources,” “influencer” and “air pollution,” and the reader can generally identify your main concerns. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate word choices, collocations and spelling errors make parts difficult to understand. Examples include “fast moving fashion,” “mass amount of wastage,” “do not outwaved” and “influential impact.” There are also repeated forms such as “cloths” where “clothes” is intended, and “weared” is not the correct form. Aim to learn topic-specific phrases in accurate combinations and check spelling and word forms carefully; this will make your ideas more precise and natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt some longer sentences and subordinate clauses, for example “because this changing trends has negative impacts on…” and the sentence beginning “For example, fashion brands…”. However, these attempts are often faulty, and many basic sentence patterns also contain errors that can make the meaning harder to follow. Examples include “various reason…were lot of individual,” “a huge amount of raw materials,” and “this wasteage directly thrown in to oceans,” where agreement, articles or verb forms are not controlled. Sentence boundaries and punctuation also need attention: the sentence beginning “In which influencer…” is incomplete. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, articles and complete clauses before adding more complex structures.
