Student answer (Band 5.0)

In contemporary world, people follow many trends to look modern. However, the way the members of public dress today are influenced by global fashion trends. There has been considerable debate on this statement whether it is positive or negative develpoment. However, i think it has more disadvantages then advantages.

I strongly believe that the global fashion trends has resillient influence on people's lives. As many people try to follow trends but they forget their own culture, since some people have culture to wear traditional clothes but when they follow trends then public say bad things about the person who follow it. Moreover, some individuals do not care about their own financial condition and take loans to cater their wishe to follow trends. Moreover, some people only follow it to look modern or to show their money-oriented aspects.

Further enhancing my views on this topic, I firmly think that some underpriviliged people feel embrace when they see the individuals who follow trends and flourishing it. For instance, in our country they try to avod western culture because of their dress sense but when adults follow them then that is root cause of some confllicts in the family.

On the flip side, some people say that it has many positve aspects as they get knowledge about different culture. In addition, it produce sense of brotherhood, unity and equality.

Different people have different notions regarding the statement but I have sound reasons to advocate that althoug it has some positive merits yet the drawbacks should not be overlooked.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You give a clear overall view that global fashion has more disadvantages than advantages, and you mention relevant effects such as pressure to abandon traditional clothing and borrowing money to follow trends. However, the task asks both how global fashion became influential and whether this is positive or negative. The first part is barely explained: you describe consequences of following trends, but not the forces that spread them, such as social media, advertising, or international brands. The positive side is also only briefly stated, without a developed example. The response contains 247 words, so it is three words below the 250-word minimum; the eight words copied from the prompt are not counted. Develop both parts more fully and support each main point with a clear example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

Your response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, body paragraphs presenting drawbacks and a counterpoint, and a concluding opinion. Linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “For instance,” and “On the flip side” help signal relationships between ideas. However, progression is not consistently clear: the paragraph beginning “Further enhancing my views” shifts to underprivileged people and family conflict without explaining how these points connect to the earlier discussion of culture and financial pressure. The repeated “Moreover” and formulaic transitions also make cohesion feel mechanical. Some references, including “it” and “them,” are unclear. Organise each paragraph around one main reason, explain the link between sentences, and use more precise referencing.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “global fashion trends,” “traditional clothes,” “financial condition,” and “sense of brotherhood, unity and equality.” This gives you a basic range for discussing the issue. However, several inaccurate or unnatural choices make parts of the argument difficult to follow, such as “resillient influence,” “cater their wishe,” “feel embrace,” and “flourishing it.” Spelling errors such as “develpoment,” “underpriviliged,” and “confllicts” are also noticeable. Some phrases are vague, including “money-oriented aspects” and “different culture.” Aim for accurate collocations and more precise wording; for example, explain whether people feel embarrassed, excluded, or pressured rather than using an unclear phrase.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “since,” “when,” and “although,” so there is some variety. However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to interrupt smooth reading. For example, “the way the members of public dress today are influenced” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “the global fashion trends has” also mismatches subject and verb. In “some people have culture to wear traditional clothes,” the article and sentence structure are not controlled. Capitalisation and punctuation need attention too: “i” should be “I,” and there is no space after the full stop in “trends.There.” Practise accurate agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries before adding more complex structures.
