Student answer (Band 6.0)

Fashion trends have become more widespread around the world . People from anywhere in the planet can be influenced by global fashion trends very easily now. Though i think it is a positive thing, it can have some negative impact on some specific cases

Global fashion trends can introduce people to variety of dressup ideas.Naturally humans like to make changes to their looks and fashions. Clothing trends worldwide change rapidly. For example, it was common for people to wear skinny jeans and tight fitted shirts in the 2010s. But now it is more trendy to wear baggy pants and drop shoulder t-shirts. As these trends change people get more and more creative ideas for themselves to fit their own style therefore elevating their fashion. Additionally , communication has become more accessible to everyone as a result it has become much easier to follow trends from around the world. By using social media we can easily learn about the new trends and fashion styles. This increased accesibility has made global fashion trends a stronger influence on people greater than ever before.

But in some cases following foreign trends can lead to some problems. A lot of countries are losing their traditional fashion trends because of it. The younger generation do not want to wear clothes from their culture instead they prefer wearing clothes that are on trend. For examle , almost all the girls in Bangladesh and India used to wear saree ( a traditional clothing ) but nowadays it is very rare to see the younger girls wear saree in those regions. Clothing is an important culture of any country.Losing it can put many countries and tribes into identity crisis. Also, some religions have strict restriction on clothing. These regilious people take the global fashion influence negatively.

In conclusion , global fashion trends have built a strong influence by elevating the youths fashion. Though we have to keep in mind that our cultural identity dont disappear.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both parts of the question: you explain the influence of social media and changing styles, and you give a generally positive view while acknowledging cultural and religious concerns. The examples of changing from skinny jeans to baggy clothing and of saree use in Bangladesh and India make the discussion relevant. Your position is clear, especially in the opening and conclusion. To strengthen the response further, develop the explanation of how global fashion became influential beyond saying that social media makes trends easier to follow—for instance, explain how influencers, advertising, or international brands spread them. The point about religious restrictions is introduced but not explained, and the cultural-identity concern could be supported with a more precise example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on benefits, a paragraph on drawbacks, and a conclusion. The contrast signalled by “But” helps the reader follow the shift in viewpoint, while “For example” introduces relevant support. The ideas generally progress logically within each paragraph. However, some links are mechanical or unclear: “therefore elevating their fashion” does not clearly show how the preceding ideas connect, and the final sentence moves abruptly from cultural identity to religion. Improve cohesion by making the relationship between each example and its main point explicit, and use clearer referencing. Consistent paragraphing and more careful punctuation around linking expressions would also make the progression smoother.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “global fashion trends,” “traditional fashion,” “cultural identity,” and “social media.” These choices communicate the main ideas, and phrases such as “identity crisis” show an attempt to use more specific language. Some word choices and collocations are less natural or imprecise, however: “dressup ideas,” “elevating their fashion,” and “take the global fashion influence negatively” do not express the intended meanings idiomatically. There are also spelling errors, including “accesibility,” “examle,” and “regilious,” which reduce accuracy. Aim for more natural collocations and check spelling carefully; this would make your vocabulary more precise without requiring unnecessarily complex words.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a concessive opening (“Though I think…”) and a conditional structure (“Losing it can put…”). Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “The younger generation do not want” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “our cultural identity dont disappear” needs an auxiliary and correct agreement. Articles and sentence boundaries also need attention, as in “Clothing is an important culture of any country” and the run-on sequence beginning “Additionally, communication has become more accessible…”. Practise checking agreement, verb forms, and punctuation, especially in longer sentences. More consistently accurate complex sentences would help demonstrate stronger control.
