IELTS Writing Task 2 question

Many aspects of the way people dress today are influenced by global fashion trends.

How has global fashion become such a strong influence on people's lives? Do you think this is a positive or negative development?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 5.5)

There are many aspects of how people are dressed nowadays is mostly influenced by global fashion trends because there is a significant influence people get from global fashion trends.This essay will consider it as a positive development because somehow getting inspired from global trend fashion helps to uplift our outlooks which is not a negative thing.

In recent years,majority of people are mostly influenced by either their preferred celebrities or the person they admire the most.Nowadays,people are more concerned about their outlooks,personality and trends.Global fashion trends is able to put such a powerful influence on people's lives because through these trends people try to immitate the fashion trends into their lifestyle as well to look better and uplift their overall outlook and personality.Admittedly,clothes and fashion of a particular individual says a lot about their personality.People have a perception to look at a person from head to toe rather than judging their ability of performance first.As a consequence, people nowadays try to follow the global fashion trend to apply these fashion trends onto their lives to have a perfect outlook and to represent themselves as a smart one.Reasonably,the global fashion trend became attractive towards people.

From my perspective,its a positive development because followng these global fashion trends gives us a sense of being a personality which everyone will likely to have.Following these fashion trends definetely helps us to uplift our overall looks in front of others.For instance,if an employment seeker is going to give an interview,he/she is following the global fashion trends from social media apps like pinterest,instagram,and facebook to what to wear which will give him/her the proper sense of fashion to uplift their outlook as well as getting the proper acknowledgement of maintaining a color theory while dressing.This will give him/her the confidence of being creative and an opportunity to impress the interviewer.

In conclusion, my believe of positive development shaped with the quote,"First impression is the last impression". Firstly people will tend to look at you rather than your certificates so its a positive development that will help people to uplift their overall outlook.

Linking expressions such as “Admittedly,” “As a consequence,” and “Reasonably” do not always show a clear relationship between ideas. Some references, including “this” and “these fashion trends,” are vague or repetitive. Organise each body paragraph around one clear point and use more precise links between explanation, evidence, and result.

There are also agreement and verb-form problems in “Global fashion trends is able” and “everyone will likely to have,” as well as missing or inconsistent articles and punctuation. Practise building a clear subject–verb structure first, then add subordinate clauses. For example: “Global fashion trends influence how people dress because social media exposes them to new styles.”
