Student answer (Band 5.5)

In today's contemporary world, the fashion sense of people is shaped significantly by the trends going on globally. I believe social media plays a crucial role to spread trending fashion among people across the world and it has many negative results as it impacts the environment highly.

Cloths, once was merely a necessary product to live in a civilised society and survive in different weathers of different geographical position. However, due to the advancement of internet, people connected through social media have access to the tending styling of everyone irrespective of culture and started taking fashion as a means of high value of life. For example, many high fashion brands started using these platforms to promote their cloths, jwelleries, and other accessories by professional models and celebreties to attract people. As a result, a large portion of people getting inspiration to have appealing cloths to have similar look.

According to my opinion, following such fashion trends has negatively impacted the environment. The primary reason for my claim is that because of this the amount of cloths people consumed has increased considerably. For this , many toxic chemicals are used is getting mixed in the earth. For, intance fabric used in cloths are highly toxic for nature.

In conclusion, various factors of people's styling are influenced by the international trends and social media is responsible for changing the view of people about fashion. Although it seems to have harmless trends, it hampers the nature in a magnificient scale.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address both questions: you identify social media as a major channel for spreading fashion and state that the environmental impact makes this a negative development. However, the response only partially fulfils the task because both explanations are brief and the position is not fully developed. The example of brands using models and celebrities is relevant, but you could explain more clearly how repeated exposure, advertising, or influencers encourages people to buy new clothes. The environmental point also needs support: the claim about toxic chemicals is not explained with a specific process or example. The response is three words below the required minimum, and the shortfall accompanies limited development. Extend the reasoning and support each main idea with a concrete example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the influence and its effects, and a conclusion. Basic signposting such as “For example,” “As a result,” and “In conclusion” helps readers follow the main points. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear: the sentence beginning “Cloths, once was merely…” is difficult to connect smoothly to the discussion of internet access, and the environmental paragraph moves quickly from increased consumption to chemicals without explaining the link. Some transitions, including “For this” and “For, intance,” are inaccurate or awkward, while the conclusion largely repeats the introduction rather than drawing the reasoning together. Use clearer links between cause and effect and develop each paragraph around one fully explained point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some topic-relevant vocabulary, including “global fashion trends,” “professional models,” “accessories,” and “environment,” so the main subject is clear. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “a means of high value of life.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making ideas harder to understand. “Cloths” is repeatedly used where “clothes” or “clothing” is intended; “tending styling” and “magnificient scale” are also unsuitable forms or combinations. Spelling errors such as “jwell eries” (written as “jwelleries”), “celebreties,” and “intance” further reduce accuracy. Build a reliable set of topic-specific collocations and check spelling and word forms carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a relative clause in “people connected through social media have access…” and a cause-and-effect structure with “As a result.” Nevertheless, the range is limited, and complex attempts often contain errors that make the reader pause. For example, “Cloths, once was merely a necessary product” has problems with sentence structure and agreement, while “a large portion of people getting inspiration” lacks a finite verb. In “many toxic chemicals are used is getting mixed,” the verb construction is faulty, and “fabric used in cloths are” has agreement and article problems. Practise building complete clauses with clear subjects and verbs, and check agreement, articles, and punctuation when combining ideas.
