Student answer (Band 5.0)

Global clothing trends greatly influence the way people dress. The sense of fashion drives from one region to the other.

Following the global fashion trends has postive impact on people lives. As almost every single individual struggles to look more handsome and beautiful. Because of this very reason, the only thing they can alter and improve is their clothing sense.

In the old times, the people here in South-Asia, used to wear their traditional clothing like shalwar, kameez, dhoti, turban, etc. But today, most of them, follow the west fashion trends. They prefer to wear pents, shirts and suites instead of their cultural and tradional clothing. Even the official routines have left their cultural representations and have followed the west dressings to look more formal.

The females of this region mainly contribute in this aspect. As their dressing was mainly associated with the honor of the family they belong. The veil was obsereved, espesially in the Islamic societies. But as of now, the feminism from the west has greatly influenced the traditional attitude of the women. They raised their voices, to claim their rights, and in order to be bold and prominent, they follow the west, and their sense of dressing.

In a nutshell we can say that, people follow the global fashion trends due to their very different causes. Some follow it to look more handsome, some follow it to be prominent, and some follow it to stay up-to-date. Whatever the case is, it is very obvious and clear that people do follow the global fashion trends and it creates a uniform sense of dressing through out the world.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response gives a clear overall view that global fashion has influenced clothing in South Asia and presents this as positive, particularly because people can improve their appearance or express greater independence. However, it only partially answers the question: it offers little explanation of how global fashion became so influential, such as the role of social media, advertising, travel, or international brands. The discussion of women’s changing dress is relevant, but claims about feminism and family honour are broad and are not supported with a specific example. The conclusion lists reasons people follow trends but does not clearly reaffirm whether the development is positive overall. Develop both the causes of this influence and your evaluation with more precise supporting examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some organisation: the response moves from a general statement to clothing changes in South Asia, then to women’s dress, and finally to a summary. Paragraph breaks help distinguish these points. However, the overall progression is not fully clear because the essay does not consistently connect its examples to the question of how global trends gained influence or to the stated positive position. Several sentences begin with “As” or “Because,” creating fragments or abrupt links, while phrases such as “In a nutshell” and “Whatever the case is” do not resolve the argument. The conclusion also repeats that people follow trends rather than synthesising the discussion. Use clearer topic sentences and link each paragraph explicitly to a cause or consequence.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The response has enough vocabulary to communicate its main subject, including “traditional clothing,” “cultural representations,” “prominent,” and “up-to-date.” However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors make parts less clear, such as “pents,” “suites,” “tradional,” “obsereved,” and “espesially.” Some expressions are unnatural or imprecise: “The sense of fashion drives from one region to the other” and “west dressings” do not convey the intended meaning naturally. Repetition of “follow the global fashion trends” also limits flexibility. Build a more accurate set of topic-specific expressions and check spelling; for example, distinguish “suits” from “suites” and use “Western clothing” rather than “west dressings.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts some longer structures, including “As their dressing was mainly associated with the honor of the family they belong” and “in order to be bold and prominent,” but complex sentences are often faulty, and many sentences are simple or incomplete. “Because of this very reason, the only thing they can alter and improve is their clothing sense” is a fragment, as is “As their dressing was mainly associated…”; both need to be joined to a complete main clause. There are also errors in articles, agreement, and sentence construction, as in “people lives” and “the people here in South-Asia, used to wear.” Punctuation is sometimes misplaced, particularly commas separating subjects from verbs. Practise complete clauses and vary sentence patterns while checking agreement and punctuation.
