Student answer (Band 6.0)

In recent years, global fashion sparked and has become a major part of most people lives around the globe as it provides a creative style and a better overall look. In my view, global fashion have significantly showed a positive attitude driving people to a more beautiful appearance.

Fashion trends nowadays have created such strong influence on how people live for several reasons, one reason is that most people consider the new ideas coming out very creative. Therefore, following the trends can result in a better appearance. Moreover, another reason for this strong influence is the strong marketing used by global clothing retailers. For instance, a clothing brand can use big celebrities and infleuncers as their marketing face in a specific new style. As a result, people who like those celebrities will almost certinaly do the same. In other words, people tend to follow what their favorite character do.

Despite all of the benefits that derive from fashion, there are some minor potential drawbacks. For example, critics argue that these days most people are heading towards looking the same. In other words, people are all following the same trends and fashions dressing the same way. However, there are still a very big variation between people and this assumption may not be true in most parts of the world.

In conclusion, Fashion has certainly played a crucial part of how everyone looks these days. As most people considered the trends appealing. In my firm opinion, global fashion is on the positive side as its advantages outweigh its disadvantages by far.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both parts of the question: you explain the influence through appealing new styles and retailers’ use of celebrities and influencers, and you state clearly that the development is positive. The example of fans copying a celebrity’s style supports your explanation. You also acknowledge a possible drawback—that people may begin to dress alike—before explaining why you consider it limited. However, some points are asserted rather than fully developed. For instance, the claim that fashion creates “a better appearance” would be stronger with a specific explanation or example, and the response does not explore in much detail how fashion affects people’s lives beyond appearance and purchasing choices. Develop these ideas further to make the response more complete and persuasive.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph explaining the influence, a paragraph considering a drawback, and a conclusion that restates your position. The progression from reasons to a counterpoint is easy to follow, and linking phrases such as “Moreover,” “For instance,” and “In conclusion” help guide the reader. This organisation is effective, though some connections feel mechanical or repetitive: “one reason” is followed by “another reason,” and “In other words” is used to restate ideas rather than extend them. The final paragraph also begins with a sentence fragment, which interrupts the flow. To strengthen cohesion, use more varied links that show the precise relationship between ideas and connect the conclusion’s supporting point smoothly to its main claim.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “global clothing retailers,” “marketing,” “celebrities,” and “trends,” and you attempt some less common expressions such as “played a crucial part.” However, the range is limited in places, with repeated use of “strong,” “people,” and “fashion,” and several word-choice or collocation problems reduce naturalness. For example, “global fashion sparked” does not clearly express how fashion became influential, while “a very big variation” is an awkward way to describe differences in people’s styles. There are also spelling errors in “infleuncers” and “certinaly.” Aim for more precise topic vocabulary and check spelling and common word partnerships so your meaning is consistently clear and natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional example (“a clothing brand can use…”) and a contrast introduced by “Despite.” Meaning is generally understandable, but some errors in agreement, verb forms, sentence boundaries, and punctuation remain. For example, “global fashion have” should use a singular verb, and “most people lives” needs a plural noun form. The opening sentence also combines ideas awkwardly, while “As most people considered the trends appealing” is a dependent clause presented as a complete sentence. Review subject–verb agreement and ensure each sentence has a complete main clause. Greater control of these patterns, alongside your existing attempts at complex sentences, would make the writing more accurate and fluent.
