IELTS Writing Task 2 question

Many aspects of the way people dress today are influenced by global fashion trends.

How has global fashion become such a strong influence on people's lives? Do you think this is a positive or negative development?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

Global fashion trends affect the way people dress all around the world today. It becomes common through social media and international award shows.This is a positive development as people are able to learn about different cultures which makes their adjustment easier in different countries.

With advancement in technology, world has become a global village. Use of social media increased in few years and we are able to connect with people all around the world. On social media apps such as Instagram, there are millions of influencer who are posting videos prrsenting various fashion trends. These videos travel fast and people from different countries want to follow their style which make it global trend. There are numbers of international events and award shows are arranged for top influencers from many countries providing them opportunity to interact with different creators and adopt their trends. For example, Best Social Media creator award was organized in Malaysia in 2026 and many influencers were invited.

This is the positive development.People are able to present their culture by sharing videos in their traditional dresses. Different influencers take part in trend and because of this many people can learn about new culture. For example, in these days Bhandana is in trend. A girl from middle east country uploaded the video and now many girls from different countries such as pakistan are also following the trend. Befor that very few people knew about it. When someone wants to visit a country and they already know about its culture it makes it easier for them to adjust.

In conclusion, global fashion trends influence the way people dress themselves by spreading through social media and international award shows. This is a positive development because people can learn about different cultures and able to adjust easily when visit that culture.

Use more precise transitions and refer back to ideas explicitly so the progression feels smoother.
