Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, people are copying trends. They want to follow trends because actors, motivational speakers, and other people that people admire wear certain clothes, and their fans want to adopt this to show interest in that specific person and want to maintain the trend that these personality have made popular. In this essay we will discuss that, how strong an influence has global fashion on people' lives and weather this is a positive or negative devolopment.

Firstly, how has global fashion influenced people's lives. People are following trends related to dresses and clothes, because they want to take part in the race of attending trends and to be among the first in wearing clothes that becomes popular in specific area or the world. Taking an example of last year, in 2025 Farshi shalwar had become a fashion in Pakistan, every one want this, because every one want to become a part of the race of persuing current style.

Secondly, do it is a positive or negtive development. According to my experience and ideas, I would say that it is a completely negative development, because people are forgetting their own cluture and traditions. They are just killing their time in cooying trends, this will be spoil for them, because when they not show interest in own traditions, it might possible that it will be completely disapear from world, that also hide their identity. For instance, Chinese traditional clothes are Tang suit, but they are busy in wearing pent shirts that is trend in this era and nearly they have losted it and roundly in one year it will totally disappear.

Finally, I have discussed in this essay that how global fashion influenced people to follow the trend and however it is a positive or negative negative development and why.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both questions and state a clear view that global fashion is negative, linking it to the possible loss of cultural identity. The examples of Farshi shalwar in Pakistan and Tang suits in China help make your position relevant. However, the explanation of how fashion becomes influential is only partly developed: you mention admired public figures and fans, but do not explain in detail how media, advertising, or online platforms spread trends internationally. The cultural-loss argument also relies on broad claims, such as saying Chinese people have nearly lost traditional clothing, without enough support. Develop each main point with a clearer explanation and a specific, credible example to make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has an introduction, two main paragraphs, and a conclusion, and signposting such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “Finally” makes the intended structure visible. The ideas are generally grouped by the two questions. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and the repeated question-style openings (“how has global fashion influenced…” and “do it is a positive or negative…”) make the discussion feel mechanical. Some links between claims are also difficult to follow, particularly the move from people not showing interest in traditions to those traditions disappearing. The conclusion repeats the task rather than summarising the reasons. Use topic sentences that state your argument, then connect each explanation and example explicitly.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “global fashion,” “trends,” “traditions,” and “identity,” and you attempt phrases such as “maintain the trend” and “specific area.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repetitive, which sometimes makes meaning less clear. Examples include “attending trends,” “race of persuing current style,” and “this will be spoil for them.” There are also noticeable spelling errors, such as “cluture,” “devolopment,” and “disapear.” Build a more precise vocabulary for describing influence and cultural change, and check spelling and natural word combinations. This would make your ideas easier to understand and more convincing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including clauses with “because” and “when,” but control is inconsistent. Errors occur frequently in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction. For example, “every one want” should be “everyone wants,” while “when they not show interest” needs an auxiliary, as in “when they do not show interest.” The sentence beginning “In this essay we will discuss that” is also awkwardly constructed, and the final sentence contains an unclear repeated phrase. These errors can make the reader pause to interpret your meaning. Practise forming accurate complex sentences and check subject–verb agreement and verb patterns before submitting.
