Student answer (Band 6.5)

In todays, the fashion become more valuable and highlighted part of everyone's life. Fashion positioned itself in the modern society. Nowdays, most people wear clothes that are influenced by global fashion. They follow trends from other countries instead of pnly wearing their own traditional clothes.

Global fashion has become very strong for two main reasons. First in social media. On instagram, TikTok and Youtube, we see what famous actors, singers and models are wearing. When a famous person wears something, millions of people want to copy it. Second is global brands. Shops like Zara, H&M and Nike are now available everywhere, even in Pakistan. Their clothes are cheap and stylish, so young people can easily buy them. Young people want to look modern and feel part of the world.

This development has both positive and negative impacts. On the negative side, people are forgetting their own culture. In many countries, traditional dresses like shalwar kameez are worn less. Also, fashion changes very fast, so people spend too much money to buy new clothes. Fast fashion also creates pollution and is bad for the environment.

But their are more positives points. Global fashion gives people more choice and freedom. They can mix global and local styles, for instance wearing jeans with a kurta. It also many jobs in shops, online business and design. Most importantly, fashion heps people express themselves and feel more confident.

To conclude, global fashion is popular because of social media and international brands. Although it has some problems like losing culture and spending too much money, I think it is mostly a positive development because it gives freedom, new ideas and job opportunities.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

You address both parts of the question: you explain the influence of social media and international brands, then give a clear view that the development is mostly positive while acknowledging drawbacks. Relevant examples such as TikTok, Zara, and wearing “jeans with a kurta” help make the discussion concrete. Your main reasons are extended with effects on choice, culture, spending, and employment, which supports a clear overall response. Some points, however, are asserted rather than fully explained: for example, the claim that traditional dress is worn less could be supported with a specific context, and the job-creation point is brief. Developing these ideas with a little more explanation or evidence would make the support more consistently convincing.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The response has a clear overall progression: an introduction, a paragraph explaining causes, a discussion of disadvantages, a paragraph on benefits, and a conclusion that restates your position. Signposting such as “First,” “Second,” “On the negative side,” and “To conclude” makes the organisation easy to follow. The contrast between drawbacks and benefits is also clear. To make the flow more flexible, avoid relying so heavily on explicit sequencing phrases and connect related points more smoothly. For instance, the discussion of fast fashion, spending, and pollution could be linked as a single chain of cause and effect. The opening sentences could also lead more directly into the explanation of how global trends influence everyday clothing choices.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “global fashion,” “traditional dresses,” “fast fashion,” “pollution,” and “express themselves.” These choices communicate the main ideas clearly, and examples such as “mix global and local styles” show some flexibility. However, several word choices, collocations, and spelling errors reduce precision: “fashion become more valuable,” “positioned itself,” and “more positives points” are not natural in context, while “Nowdays,” “pnly,” and “heps” are misspelled. Some wording is also repeated, particularly “fashion” and “people.” Aim to use more precise collocations and check spelling carefully; this would make the vocabulary sound more controlled without changing your clear meaning.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use a mix of short statements and longer sentences, including a conditional-style example and clauses introduced by “so” and “because.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors are noticeable. For example, “First in social media” is a fragment, “But their are more positives points” has an incorrect verb form and agreement, and “It also many jobs” is missing a verb. The opening also has problems with articles and sentence structure: “In todays, the fashion become…” A useful next step is to check that every sentence has a complete subject and verb, and to review subject–verb agreement, articles, and verb forms. More accurate complex sentences would strengthen the range you already attempt.
