Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You address both parts of the question: you identify social media, celebrity promotion and brand advertising as reasons global fashion spreads, and you give a qualified view that fashion can have negative effects when it conflicts with regional or religious expectations. However, the response only minimally develops these points. The explanation of how an advertisement reaches people is difficult to follow, and the discussion of negative effects focuses mainly on clothing limits without explaining broader consequences. Your position is also not fully consistent: you call fashion “a good” influence, then emphasise negative effects, and the conclusion does not clearly state whether the development is positive or negative overall. The response is 248 words, two words below the required minimum. Develop one clear position and support it with a specific example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some organisation: the opening introduces global fashion, the next section discusses social media and celebrities, and a later section turns to negative effects before a concluding statement. Basic signposts such as “But” and “the conclusion” help indicate these shifts. However, progression within paragraphs is often unclear, particularly in the long explanation beginning “This is a social media world,” where several ideas are joined together without clear relationships. The response also lacks clear paragraph breaks, and repeated references to “fashion,” “people” and “follow” make the flow feel repetitive. Use separate paragraphs for the causes, your evaluation and the conclusion, and connect each point with precise linking phrases.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “global fashion trends,” “social media,” “brands,” “regions” and “limits.” These choices show that you can communicate the general subject. However, the range is basic and repetitive, and frequent spelling and word-choice errors make parts difficult to understand, such as “internatinol,” “poplur,” “neec wishes in heats” and “confrtable inviorment.” Some expressions are also unnatural, including “fashion and news and every culture go up” and “famous peoples.” Build a more accurate set of topic-specific phrases and check spelling carefully. More precise wording would help explain how online promotion influences consumers and what effects this has.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt some longer sentences and use basic structures to express causes and contrast, for example, “But if i talk about fashion, there are also have many negative affect.” However, sentence forms are very limited overall, and frequent errors in agreement, verb forms, articles and sentence construction sometimes distort meaning. Examples include “people follows,” “brands give money for creating ads,” and “all persons also want that fashion.” Several sentences run together, especially the explanation of celebrity advertising, making it hard to identify where one idea ends and another begins. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with controlled clauses using “because,” “when” and “although.” Check subject–verb agreement and punctuation during revision.
