Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You state a clear overall view—“the positive aspects significantly outweigh the negative ones”—and begin to address how fashion affects clothing choices. However, the response only minimally answers the task: it does not explain how global trends became influential, and the negative side is mentioned only in the introduction, not developed. The example about influencers or TikTokers is unfinished, so it does not provide usable support. The response also contains 110 words, below the required 250, leaving the argument substantially incomplete. To strengthen your response, explain specific drivers such as social media, celebrity marketing, and international brands, then develop both your evaluation and examples in complete paragraphs.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an introductory paragraph presents your position, followed by “On the one hand” to introduce a supporting point. This gives the reader some sense of direction. However, the essay stops before a contrasting paragraph or conclusion, and the final example breaks off at “modify their personal,” so progression is not sustained. Some linking is also awkward: “While some argue…” introduces a view that is not subsequently explained, and “this essay will examine both perspectives” promises a structure that does not follow. Complete each paragraph, use clear topic sentences, and ensure that each linking phrase accurately signals the relationship between the ideas.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt some topic-related and formal vocabulary, including “global fashion industries,” “drawbacks,” “positive aspects,” and “overall quality of life.” These choices show an effort to discuss the issue beyond very basic language. However, inaccurate word forms and collocations often make the meaning difficult to follow, as in “dressed theirself by influenced with” and “benefits associate with shaped everyday wardrobe choice.” Spelling errors such as “persoectives” and “enchance” also reduce clarity. Aim for accurate, natural combinations rather than complex phrasing: for example, “dress according to global fashion trends” and “benefits associated with changing everyday clothing choices.” Proofreading spelling and plural forms would also improve readability.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts a complex opening sentence and a contrast clause beginning “While,” as well as a cause-and-effect structure with “which ultimately…”. This shows some willingness to use more than simple sentences. However, the structures are often faulty, and errors can make the intended meaning difficult to understand. Examples include “people dressed theirself by influenced,” “it enable individuals,” and “need to modify,” where verb forms, agreement, and sentence construction are not controlled. There are also punctuation and capitalisation problems, such as starting “this essay” with a lowercase letter and omitting a space after the full stop in “life. For instance.” Build accuracy first with clear subject–verb patterns, then add subordinate clauses and check each sentence for complete structure and correct punctuation.
