Student answer (Band 6.0)
I believe this is a positive development because it gives people more freedom in their choices. In the past, individuals had limited options. They could bought items those were available in local markets. They also wore traditional clothes in simple designs. However, people have a wide range of choices in clothing and other fashion items in the present.
For example, women can wear shalwar kameez in many modern designs. They are active on social media platforms like Tiktok, Facebook, Instagram and see varity of designs in clothes. They easily place order their favourite designs at home. This variety allows people to express their personalities and they feel more confident.
However, there are also some negative effects of global fashion trends. They can negatively affect the local economy because people may lose interest in traditional clothing and prefer foreign styles instead. Another disadvatage is young genration spend a lot of money on irrelevant items. Another disadvantage is many people adopt such fashion trends that opposed their traditional, cultural and religious values.
Nevertheless, these disadvantages are relatively minor compared with the benefits of having more choices and freedom of expression.
In conclusion, global fashion has become a powerful influence mainly because of social media platforms and advertisements. I believe it is generally a positive development because it gives people greater freedom to choose their clothing and helps them feel more confident. If we adopt those fashion trends which do not contrary with our values it will be a positive development. In this way we make progress in fashion industry and also follow our values and teachings

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear: you consider global fashion a positive development because it expands choice and self-expression, while acknowledging drawbacks. You address both questions by identifying social media and advertisements as sources of influence and discussing effects on local clothing, spending, and cultural values. The shalwar kameez example helps make the benefits relevant. However, the explanation of how global fashion became influential is brief: social media is named, but the role of advertising and the way online exposure shapes purchasing are not illustrated. Some disadvantages, especially spending on “irrelevant items,” are asserted rather than explained. Develop these points with a specific example and clearer cause-and-effect reasoning to make the response more fully supported.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a coherent overall structure: it presents a positive view, considers disadvantages, returns to the main position, and concludes. Paragraphing helps distinguish the benefits from the drawbacks, and signposts such as “However,” “Nevertheless,” and “In conclusion” make the direction easy to follow. The progression is not always smooth, though. The benefits paragraph moves quickly from past clothing choices to social media and confidence, while the disadvantages paragraph repeats “Another disadvantage” and groups several distinct concerns together. Some references, such as “They” in “They are active on social media,” require the reader to infer who is meant. Use more varied linking and clearer references, and organise each paragraph around one main idea with explanation.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “global fashion trends,” “traditional clothing,” “freedom of expression,” and “cultural and religious values.” These phrases communicate the main ideas clearly, and “variety” and “confident” suit the discussion. However, some word choices and collocations are imprecise or repetitive: “irrelevant items” does not clearly convey the intended criticism, and “place order their favourite designs” is not natural phrasing. Spelling errors such as “varity,” “disadvatage,” and “genration” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more precise expressions and check spelling carefully; using alternatives such as “unnecessary purchases” and “place an order for” would make the argument sound more natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including contrast clauses with “because” and “although”-type reasoning, and most of the message remains understandable. Some grammatical errors persist, however, and they limit control. For example, “They could bought” needs the base form after “could,” while “They easily place order” is missing an article and has an incomplete verb pattern. In “young genration spend,” the subject and verb do not agree, and “fashion trends that opposed” lacks an appropriate verb form. The final conditional sentence, “If we adopt those fashion trends which do not contrary with our values,” is also structurally inaccurate. Practise modal verbs, articles, agreement, and conditional clauses, then proofread each sentence for a complete, correctly formed verb.
