Student answer (Band 5.5)

In today's contemporary world, an increasing number of people are inspired by international fashion in terms of wearing modern dress. Global trends of fashion become more pupolar and have strong influence on individual's lives. I content that this development has both positive and negative aspects, while it encourage communities development and exchange diverse cultures, it also results in increase stress and unnecessarily buying.

On the one hand, one major advantage of the people influencing from international fashion has global connectivity. To elaborate further, whenever people from different regions would inspire from one another in various factors then this obviously make more people connected with one another in different aspects of life not only related to wear same clothes but also to learn some new designing skills and expreience to meet the current need of this modren world. Furthermore, people from diverse countries can also exchange some traditional clothes of their local culture, which brings the switching of dress influenced from one another and ideas of their strong fashions. For instance, nowadays Pakistani women mostly wear t-shrits and pants instead of their local dress because they are strongly influenced from the global trends.

On the other hand, there are several negative consequences of this trend which cannot be ignored. First and foremost, Individuals are often inspire from international brands or fashion and they buy such kinds of clothes which are unnecessary and often do not meet their desire objectives or sometimes prohibited in their local culture. Hence, they spend a vast amount of funds on unnecassary clothes or jewelries which are not need for their basic life. Moreover, some people do not afford to purchase global fashional dress or somthings else related to individuals needs then they are falling into stress and deprission due to the lack of money. To cite an example, labourers who are working nine to five job are not able to afford such expensive international branded dress for their uses. As a result, they are geting into anxiety due to the expectation of their needs.

In conclusion, although influencing from global fashion trends have various advantages in terms of culture exchange and global connectivity, while it also create challenges such as mental deprssion, and purchasing unnecessary things. Therefore, this trend to be both positive and negative development according to the person.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both questions: the essay gives reasons for fashion’s influence, including cultural exchange and international brands, and states that the development has both positive and negative effects. However, the explanation of how global fashion became influential is not fully clear; the first body paragraph mainly describes possible benefits rather than explaining the drivers of influence, such as social media, advertising, or celebrity culture. Your examples—Pakistani women wearing T-shirts and trousers, and workers unable to afford branded clothing—are relevant, but their connection to the claims is only briefly explained. The conclusion repeats the balanced position, though it does not resolve which side you consider stronger. Develop the causes more directly and extend each example to show its significance.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two contrasting body paragraphs, and a conclusion. The progression from benefits to drawbacks is easy to follow, and signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help readers navigate the argument. This coherent organisation is a strength. However, some links are mechanical or unclear, particularly “while it encourage communities development and exchange diverse cultures” and the final sentence, where “although” and “while” make the relationship between ideas difficult to follow. Within paragraphs, several points are joined into long chains, so the connection between cultural exchange, clothing choices, and global connectivity is not always explicit. Use clearer sentence boundaries and more precise referencing to make the progression smoother.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt vocabulary suited to the topic, including “global trends,” “traditional clothes,” “international brands,” “unnecessary,” and “anxiety.” These choices show an effort to discuss both cultural effects and personal costs. However, the range is limited by repeated general terms such as “fashion,” “clothes,” and “people,” while frequent spelling and word-choice errors sometimes make meaning less clear: “pupolar,” “modren,” “fashional dress,” and “deprission.” Several combinations are also unnatural, including “vast amount of funds on unnecessary clothes” and “exchange some traditional clothes.” Aim for accurate topic-specific collocations and check spelling carefully. For example, “spend heavily on clothing” and “share traditional styles” would express your ideas more naturally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You try to use complex structures, including conditional clauses (“whenever people from different regions…”) and contrastive sentences beginning “although.” However, these attempts are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to process. Examples include “Global trends of fashion become more popular and have strong influence,” “this obviously make more people connected,” and “they are geting into anxiety.” These show problems with verb agreement, articles, and verb forms. The opening sentence of the first body paragraph is also difficult to follow because its clause structure is incomplete or misassembled. Build accuracy first with clear subject–verb patterns, then add subordinate clauses. Check agreement, articles, and tense in each sentence, and avoid joining several clauses when their grammatical relationship is uncertain.
