Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, individuals are influenced by fashion trends that followed around the world. This is mainly because social media, online clothing brands and fashion influencer. I believe it is overall a positive development it allows people to make their own choices and learn about other cultures, but global fashion also has a few negative impacts on people life.

There are several reasons why global fashion become more popular. Firstly, in today technology era everyone use social media like TikTok, Instagram and YouTube and people influenced by other culture by using these apps. In addition, Fashion influencer and celebrities promote fashion culture from different part of the world. For instance, their followers want to copy them and choose new fashion. Secondly, International brands also a reason for adopt their culture. For example, they make shopping convenient to provide worlwide shipping, people can buy easily without travelling other countries.

However, I believe global fashion trend is a positive development because it gives chance to people more choices and allow people to express their personalities, and people can learn about other countries culture. For example, traditional clothing from one country may become popular in another, helping people appreciate different cultural styles. Moreover, global fashion trends encourage individuals to spend too much money to buy new trends and it may reduce the interest in traditional clothing. Nevertheless, people can avoid these problems by choosing clothes carefully and maintaining their own cultural identity.

In conclusion, global has become more popular because of social media, celebrities and internation brands. Although it can encourage unnecessary spending and weaken traditional clothing habits, I believe it is generally a positive development because it offers greater choice and encourages cultural exchange.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both parts of the question: you explain the influence of social media, celebrities and international brands, and state that global fashion is generally positive. The examples of TikTok and worldwide shipping make the causes relevant, while your discussion of choice, cultural exchange, spending and traditional clothing gives a balanced response. Your position remains clear in the conclusion. Some ideas, however, are only briefly explained: for example, you mention that fashion allows people to express their personalities but do not show how this benefits them. The point about spending is also phrased as though trends encourage overspending, without explaining when or why. Developing these points with a specific example or consequence would make the response more complete and persuasive.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph explaining the causes, a paragraph evaluating the effects, and a conclusion. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” “However” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the main stages of your argument. The ideas generally progress logically, and the conclusion returns to both the causes and your opinion. Some connections are mechanical, though, and the long sentence beginning “I believe global fashion trend is a positive development” combines several benefits and a contrasting drawback without a clear transition between them. The reference in “they make shopping convenient” is also not fully clear. Use more varied links and divide or reorganise sentences so each paragraph develops one connected line of reasoning.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “fashion trends,” “social media,” “worldwide shipping,” “traditional clothing” and “cultural identity.” These choices make your main points understandable, and phrases such as “express their personalities” and “cultural exchange” show some ability to use topic-specific language. However, the range is limited by repeated general words such as “people,” “fashion” and “popular,” and several word-choice or form errors make expressions less natural. Examples include “fashion influencer,” “adopt their culture” and “encourage individuals to spend too much money.” Spelling errors such as “worlwide” and “internation” also reduce accuracy. Build a wider set of precise collocations and check word forms and spelling when editing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a reason clause with “because,” a relative clause in “traditional clothing from one country may become popular in another,” and a concession introduced by “Although.” This gives the response some structural variety, and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, errors in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence boundaries occur in several places. For example, “trends that followed around the world” needs a passive form, while “everyone use” and “global fashion become” do not match their subjects and time reference. The opening paragraph also joins the opinion and its explanation without clear punctuation. Review subject–verb agreement and verb forms, and proofread articles and sentence boundaries to make your varied structures more controlled.
