Student answer (Band 5.0)

Global fashion trend is greatly impacting the way people dress because most people in the world just wear that the other peoples are wearing and it is defination of trend that to follow others and currently the people are totally relying on fashion trends for dressing decisions mean they kept in thier mind that what the others are wearing is thier dress is in trend or not in my opinion this is negative impact becuse i believe that your dressing decision should completely be made on your own mindset because in this world every one has the different mindset the different point of view and everyone carry diffrent styleso the dressing decision should not be made on opinion or on the choice of others this is right of everyone to wear the dress on the choice of his own mind each person in world have unique style and unique personality if every one wears the dress of his own choice their will be different clothes ,colours etc then their will be no fashion or dressing trend that some people have to follow unwillingly but as we are living in the society where trend has becoming necessary for everyone to follow eachone have to think whether this dressing will look like trendy or outdated and the most bad impact of fashion trending is that nowadays dressing is judged by measuring trend that if he or she wears dress of his own choice it is considered as the outdated no one like to comminicate,to sit with her or him because he /she have been judged just by her dressing currenty i have observed it for example in a birthday party of my friend i wear a dress that was very beautifull for me and it was the dress of my mom but in the party i feel so uncomfortable because everyone look like i was wearing a very owkward dress after that am strong opponenet of trends

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You clearly state your view that global fashion trends have a negative effect, and the birthday-party example gives your argument a personal illustration. However, the response only partly answers how global fashion became so influential. It mainly says people copy what others wear, without explaining the forces that spread trends, such as social media, celebrities, advertising, or international brands. The negative effects are more developed, particularly the pressure to appear fashionable and the judgement of people who dress differently, but several claims remain broad and are not fully explained. To strengthen the response, address both parts directly: explain the causes of fashion’s influence, then develop a smaller number of consequences with clear reasoning and relevant examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The response has a recognisable line of argument: you introduce the influence of trends, state that you see this as negative, and give an example from a party. However, nearly all the ideas are placed in one long, unpunctuated block, so the reader has difficulty identifying where one point ends and another begins. The argument also moves rapidly from personal choice to social judgement and then to your anecdote, with little signposting. Repeated links such as “because,” “and,” and “but” do not clearly show the relationship between all the points. Use separate paragraphs for the explanation of influence, your negative evaluation, and the example or conclusion. Shorter sentences and clearer transitions would make the progression easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “fashion trends,” “dressing decisions,” “unique personality,” and “outdated,” and the reader can generally understand your position. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, especially “dress,” “choice,” and “trend.” There are also frequent spelling and word-form problems, such as “defination,” “beautifull,” and “opponenet,” which make the writing less clear and controlled. Some expressions are awkward or imprecise, for example “measuring trend” and “the dress of his own mind.” Aim for more accurate collocations and vary your vocabulary: for instance, describe people as “following current styles” or being “judged for their appearance.” Proofreading spelling would also improve readability.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt to express connected and complex ideas, including reasons and a personal example, but sentence structures are often difficult to control. The opening runs several clauses together, and the long sentence beginning “in my opinion” contains many ideas without clear sentence boundaries. Errors in agreement and verb forms are frequent, as in “everyone carry” and “trend has becoming necessary”; articles and plurals are also inconsistent. Punctuation is largely absent, which makes these grammatical problems harder to interpret. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine related ideas using a controlled range of clauses. For example, separate the claim about personal choice from the explanation of how social judgement creates pressure, and check subject–verb agreement and verb forms.
